Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the unnecessary copying operations of a processor by processing a 1st pointer via a 3rd data source/sink and also chaining the protocol headers at every part of a 1st data stream. SOLUTION: A distributed memory architecture includes plural data sources/ sinks in the forms of CPU 110 and 142 having relative memories which are connected to a network as nodes 102 and also to the data that can be accessed in the network. A descriptor is gotten at a data buffer of the first one of those sources/sinks and then replaced with that of the data buffer of the second source/sink with no transfer of the first buffer. Then the descriptor is replaced with that of the 3rd data source/sink from the second one and, at the same time, the data of the data buffer of the first data source/sink are partly retrieved from the data of the data buffer of the first data source/sink.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exclude the unwanted copying of data by transferring only a 1st pointer generated by a 1st data source/sink to a 2nd data source/sink, generating a 2nd pointer at the 2nd data source/sink and linking the 1st and 2nd pointers. SOLUTION: When a global pointer indicates data 560 and specified data 561 of its own application exist in a memory 551, an application server process 531 dispatches the global painter indicating the data 560 and the other global pointer indicating data 562 specified for that application to an intermediate protocol process 532. The intermediate protocol process 532 does not copy the data 561 and 560 into the related memory but dispatches two global pointers indicating the data 561 and 560 to a TCP/IP process 533 together with a 3rd global pointer indicating intermediate protocol header data 562.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the unnecessary copying operations of data in a processor and also between processors by chaining together the global pointers pointing the data blocks which are not physically adjacent to each other and therefore producing the memory blocks which are logically adjacent to each other. SOLUTION: An application server process 531 transfers a global pointer showing the data 560 and another global pointer showing the specific data 562 for application of the first pointer to an intermediate protocol process 532. In fact, the process 531 produces the memory blocks which are logically (virtually) adjacent to each other by chaining together the global pointers pointing the blocks of data 561 and 560 which are not physically adjacent to each other. Then the process 531 transfers the chain of pointers to the process 532.
