Abstract: An apparatus and method for roughing surfaces and edges of concrete casted blocks, comprising a block support surface having a plurality of surface sections. A first of the surface sections has a rear end thereof above an adjacent front end of a second of the surface sections to create a ledge for projecting a leading edge portion of concrete blocks conveyed over the first surface section. A first roughing device has a plurality of impacting elements thereon for roughing concrete blocks. The first roughing device is disposed generally above the rear end of the first surface section for abrading a projecting leading edge portion of each concrete block as they are conveyed over the rear end. A conveyor displaces concrete blocks over the first and second surface sections, the blocks being tilted when reaching a predetermined position over the ledge to avoid being abraded by the roughing device.

Abstract: In combination, a culvert structure is interconnected with paver blocks, the paver blocks being interconnected to form a paved surface. The culvert structure comprises a rigid casing having a bottom wall, opposed parallel vertical side walls, and an open top end; one of the vertical side walls of the rigid casing having one or more projection formation interconnected with a slot of adjacent ones of the paver blocks. The other of the vertical side walls of the rigid casing has a slot formation interconnected with a block engaging projection of adjacent ones of the paver blocks. The bottom wall of the rigid casing has water evacuation passage therein for the evacuation of water therethrough and a support structure connected to said rigid casing for supporting a grate over the open top end.

Abstract: A concrete cast stone resembling a flagstone for use with other ones of the concrete cast stones for covering a surface. Abstract: A concrete casted paving stone of rectangular shape is described and has two pairs of opposed parallel side walls. In a first of the two pairs of side walls, an engaging projection is formed in one side wall and a through slot in the other side wall for receiving the stone-engaging projection of another paving stone therein. The second pair of opposed parallel side walls each have a slot and a further stone-engaging projection in a section thereof. The stone-engaging projections of the second pair of side walls are disposed adjacent the side wall of the first pair which contains the slot and the slot extends through the rear wall of these stone-engaging projections. The paving stone may be used as a permeable paving stone wherein to evacuate water from an upper surface of a paved surface into the underlying support bed.

Abstract: A casted concrete block surface-roughing machine having an in-line conveyor displaceable over a stationary horizontal support surface for slidingly supporting a lower surface of concrete blocks displaced thereon by the conveyor. At least two pairs of spaced-apart vertically supported conveyor belts are disposed to engage opposed side faces of the concrete blocks to displace them along the stationary horizontal support surface. One of the pairs of the conveyor belts engages the opposed side faces in a lower surface section thereof to expose an upper surface section thereof to be abraded by respective surface abrading devices. The other of the pairs of conveyor belts engage the opposed side faces in the upper surface section of the concrete block to expose the lower surface section thereof to be abraded by further respective surfaces abrading devices.

Abstract: A precast concrete stone is provided with an angled side wall section and has a base section of predetermined thickness and straight side wall sections, one of which is an angled side wall section. A stone section is formed integral with the base section and projects from an outer surface of the base section. The stone section is recessed from at least two adjacent ones of the straight side wall sections and exposes a top flat edge surface of the outer surface of the base section about at least two adjacent flat edge surfaces of the stone section. The side wall section is adapted to mate with an angled side wall section of another precast concrete stone whereby stone can be disposed side-by-side and offset from one another to obstruct a straight continuous joint between a plurality of adjacent stones.
