Abstract: An apparatus for hyperthermia treatment of cancer comprising a combined hyperthermia applicator/MRI probe (1, 6) comprises an MRI probe that includes a tuning/matching circuit and a coil (1) for receiving and transmitting magnetic resonance signals, the tuning/matching circuit and radio frequency coil (1) being operably connected to one another and the MRI probe (1, 6) to be positioned inside a magnet to provide information which permits the control of the amount of radiant energy transmitted by the hyperthermia applicator to control and/or maintain the temperature at the subject's body part being treated within about +/-0.5 DEG C.
