Abstract: 1,155,972. Paper making apparatus. TIME, Inc. 21 June, 1966 [20 Aug., 1965], No. 27752/66. Heading D2A. To prevent rippling of the wire of a single wire paper-making machine, or of the lower or upper wire of a twin-wire machine, a plurality of blades are mounted in the forming zone in a row extending in the cross-machine direction to engage the wire. In the embodiments described a twin-wire machine has a curved suction box positioned immediately downstream of the lower breast roll with the upstream end of the box blanked off. The blades are positioned opposite to or slightly downstream of the upstream end of the box. The blades which are mounted on a common holder may be of rectangular cross-section, may have a pointed upstream end, or may be of semi-circular cross-section so that they have a substantially point contact with the wire.

The nozzle of Specification 1,253,722 may be used.
