Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with setting of a value of calibration or correction at every time of replacement of an electrode and to enable free and proper use of electrodes for different purposes, by providing a storage means for the information on a measuring electrode in the measuring electrode or in a cable or a connector for connecting the measuring electrode to a device main body. SOLUTION: A type name and a serial number of an electrode given at the time of manufacture thereof are inputted as the information (data) on the electrode to a memory in the electrode 10, for instance, and calibration data are written therein at the time of inspection of the electrode. A means for reading and storing the information stored in the memory of the measuring electrode 10 is provided in a device main body 20 and also a means for writing the fresh calibration data and others in the memory of the measuring electrode 10 is provided therein. The device main body 20 corrects a pH value by computation on the basis of the calibration data read in and a potential obtained from a pH sensing part 11 of the measuring electrode 10 and displays it as a measured pH value. In a measuring device equipped with a printer, printing can also be executed as occasion demands.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device with memory for automatically recognizing such information as the type and manufacturing number of an electrode without any need for setting a calibration or correction value each time when the electrode is replaced using a device body and for freely using the electrode for each application. SOLUTION: A measuring device 1 is provided with a device body 20 and a measurement electrode 10. An identification means for identifying the measurement electrode 10 is provided in the measurement electrode 10 or in a cable or a connector for connecting the measurement electrode 10 to the device body 20, and a storage means 21 for recognizing the identification means of the measurement electrode 10 and storing information regarding the measurement electrode 10 is provided in the device body 20.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a stabilization determining processing time, and to shorten a calibration time as a result thereof.
SOLUTION: In this calibration method for a measuring instrument for conducting stabilization determination for a measured value and for conducting calibration processing, (a) stabilization determining processing with prescribed intervals is carried out based on a measured data even at the time of measurement, (b) calibration processing is carried out immediately at the time of calibration when stabilization is already determined as a result of the stabilization determining processing, and the stabilization determining processing is continued successively when an unstabilized condition is determined, to carry out calibration processing when stabilization is determined.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simpl and stably measure a concentration of each substance related to a biological reaction, a biochemical reaction or a chemical reaction with the use of common electrodes and apparatus without using special electrodes and apparatus for each substance. SOLUTION: A sample solution including a substance to be measured is borough into contact with a film 7 or column holding a labile substance which generates a pH change through a biological, biochemical or chemical reaction with the substance to be measured. A potential difference of two pH-sensing electrodes 5, 6 soaked in the sample solution before and after the touch in the liquid junction state is measured. The obtained potential difference is compared with a potential difference preliminary measured for a solution including the substance to be measured of a known concentration. A concentration of the substance to be measured in the sample solution is obtained in the method.
