    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an absorption photometer and the self-diagnostic method for the absorption photometer giving no effect to measurement even when aging changes of spectral characteristics of a light source and a light detecting element occur and requiring no span calibrating drive mechanism. CONSTITUTION:This absorption photometer is provided with a light source L provided on the incidence side of a measuring cell 1 where the water under test 1A is introduced, a filter wheel 2 inserted between the light source L and the measuring cell l, a light detecting element PD provided on the outgoing side of the measuring cell 1, and an arithmetic device 9. The filter wheel 2 has measuring filters Fm1, Fm2 and a calibrating filter. At the time of measurement and calibration, the measuring light is sent from the light source L to the light detecting element PD via a rotatively driven optical filter, the measuring cell 1, and an optical path to the light detecting element PD. The reference light extracted with part of the light from the light source L is sent to the light detecting element PD via the optical filter of the filter wheel 2 without passing through the measuring cell 1 at the separate timing from that of the measuring light.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean the inside of a measuring cell surely and easily by composing the inner surface of a measuring cell of a tubular optical glass and wiping the inner surface of glass in the circumferential direction by means of a wiper. SOLUTION: The inner surface of a measuring cell 1 is composed of a tubular optical glass 11 and an measuring optical path 10 is set in the diametrical direction substantially at the central position of tube. A wiper unit 5 comprises a wiper rubber ring 52 touching the inner surface in the circumferential direction of tubular glass 11, a wiper support 51, and a wiper drive shaft 53 for driving the rubber ring 52 in the axial direction of tube (shown by an arrow). When the inner surface of glass 11 is contaminated with water to be inspected, the water to be inspected or a zero liquid is used as a cleaning liquid and the wiper unit 5 is driven to reciprocate the circular rubber ring 52 in the axial direction of the glass 11 of cell 1 while touching the inner surface there with a predetermined pressure thus removing the contaminants. Since no level difference is present on the inner surface of glass 11, it can be cleaned easily.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To measuer the amount of hydrazine in test water accurately without the obstruction of metal ions and to make it possible to perform the stable measurement for a long period by using a polarographic oxidation-reduction current method even if reducing ions such as Fe (II) and the like are present in the test water. CONSTITUTION:In a mixing device 2 of a measuring apparatus, test water from a test-water regulating cell FS1 and electrolyte, wherein EDTA from an electrolyte container 4 is added, are mixed. The EDTA is added into the test water. The test water is injected into a measuring cell 1, wherein a working electrode WE, a counter electrode CE and a comparing electrode RE are provided. The amount of the hydrazine in the test water is measured by a polarographic oxidation-reduction current method. The reducing metal ions such as Fe (II) and the like are masked by the addition of the EDTA. Therefore, the amount of the hydrazine of the test water can be accurately measured without the blocking of the metal ions. Since the metal ions are not attached to the electrodes, deterioration does not occur, and the measurement can be performed stably for a long period.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simply measure high concn. hydrazine with good reproducibility by a method wherein potassium nitrate or potassium chloride is added to and mixed with water to be examined containing hydrazine to be measured in a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:Potassium nitrate or potassium chloride is added to water to be examined containing hydrazine to be measured in an amount of 0.012 mol/l or more to be uniformly mixed therewith by a mixer 8 and the redox current of hydrazine is measured with respect to the water to be examined. That is, KCl or KNO3 is preliminarily added to the water to be examined guided from boiler water to be examined guided from boiler water as a support electrolyte to be uniformly mixed therewith by the mixer 8 and contained up to the high concn. corresponding to the concn. of hydrazine being a limit capable of being usually contained in boiler water and, therefore, the linearity of the concn. of hydrazine and a current value is obtained from a low concn. range of about 0 - 20 ppb of hydrazine to a high concn. range of about 10 ppm and hydrazine can be measured with good reproducibility.
