    Abstract: A presensitized planographic printing master plate is provided herein requiring no dampening water for use in negative work. The plate comprises a base substrate, a light releasing photosensitive layer overlying the base substrate and a silicone rubber layer overlying the photosensitive layer. When the printing master plate is exposed through a negative film and then is treated with a developer, only the silicone rubber layer overlying the exposed photosensitive layer is removed, while the photosensitive layer remains as it is to form an image area. Dampening water is not required when printing is carried out.

    Abstract: A negative working presensitized planographic printing plate is provided herein for use in dry planography. The planographic plate includes a base substrate. A photosensitive layer is secured to and overlies the base substrate, the photosensitive layer having a content of ethanol-soluble component not higher than 20% by weight and containing a photosensitive orthoquinonediazide compound which is a naphthoquinione-1,2-diazide-5-sulfonate of novolaks having a percent esterification in the range of between 35% and 65%; and silicone rubber layer, which is a sparsely cross-linked diorganopolysiloxane overlying the photosensitive layer through a bonding component which is an aminosilane of the formula R R' Si(OR")4-m-n where R is an unsubstituted or monosubstituted amino group group-containing alkyl, R' and R" are each alkyl or aryl, m is 1 or 2 and n is O or 1, m+n being equal to 1 and 2. When the printing plate is exposed through a negative film and is then treated with a developer, the photosensitive layer in the exposed image areas is dissolved and the corresponding portion of the silicone rubber layer is also easily removed and an image is obtained as an exact reproduction of the negative film. Dampening water is not required when printing is carried out.

    Abstract: The synthetic pulp-like material of the present invention is a fibrillated fibrous material composed mainly of hydrophobic polymer and a hydrophilic polymer, in which the hydrophilic polymer exists in the shape of irregular islands when viewed in cross section taken at a right angle to the fiber axis. The hydrophilic polymer is arranged as continuous or intermittent striae in the direction of the fiber axis, in a substantially greater part of said fibrous material, the ratio of the transverse dimension (?1) to the longitudinal dimension (?2), (?1/?2) is within the range of about 1-10 and the longitudinal dimension (?2) does not exceed 10 microns. This synthetic pulp-like material, useful for making synthetic paper, is produced by emulsion flash-spinning, in which a separate fluid is introduced into a nozzle upon discharging an emulsion containing polymers.

    Abstract: In preparing an emulsion from a poly-.alpha.-olefin, an organic solvent and a dispersion medium in order to produce a paper-forming material by the emulsion flash-spinning method, one of the following polymers is used as a surface active agent and hydrophilic polymer: (I) (II) (III) and (IV) a vinyl monomer-grafted polyvinyl alcohol, wherein A and B represent members selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydrocarbon radicals having from one to twenty carbon atoms, Li, Na, 1/2 Ca, 1/2 Mg, 1/2 Zn and 1/3 Al; R1 represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and a hydrocarbon radical having from one to thirty carbon atoms; R2 represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, -COOR3(in which R3 represents hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical having from one to thirty carbon atoms), -OCOR? (in which R4 is a hydrocarbon radical having from one to twenty carbon atoms), halogen or -CH2OH; and R5 represents a member selected from the group consisting of -OCOR6 (in which R6 is a hydrocarbon radical having from one to twenty carbon atoms), -OH and -CH2OH.
