    Abstract: In the production of a thermoplastic polymeric sheet (3) a molten thermoplastic polymer is extruded from an extrusion die (1) in the form of a sheet onto a moving quenching member (2), with an electric potential difference being established between the surface of the moving quenching member (2) and the extrusion die (1), whereby the polymer is caused to electrostatically solidify and adhere to the surface of the quenching member (2). The contact area of the polymeric sheet (3) with the moving quenching member (2) is held in an atmosphere of a gas which possesses better insulating properties than standard air, this gas issuing from a cylinder (9) through a nozzle (10). By this means there can be produced, at higher speeds than conventional method, polymer sheets of high surface quality which avoids operational problems encountered in the conventional methods.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate the uneven sheet thickness due to voltage waveform as a main cause by a method wherein the waveform and phase of voltage output, which is applied by a high-voltage generator to a discharge electrode, are variably controlled in synchronization with the change of the thickness of a produced sheet. CONSTITUTION:A discharge electrode 6 is held at high potential by being applied with high voltage generated by a high-voltage generator 5. The change of the thickness of the sheet in contact with a cooling roller is monitored with a thickness measuring apparatus 7 installed just after the point of contact of the sheet with the roller. Obtained thickness change waveform signal is sent to a waveform signal analyzer 7 so as to be analyzed in order to express the signal in terms of the sum of a plurality of sinusoidal waves. Control signals generating potential change to apply periodic waveforms, the frequencies and amplitudes of which are equal to and the phases of which are shifted 180 degrees to each of split up sinusoidal waves, are sent from the analyzer 8 to the high-voltage generator 5 in order to variably control the potential of the discharge electrode 6 as mentioned above.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make a sheet adhere to a cooling rolls favorably, by controlling automatically a position of a wire electrode so that a current value from the wire electrode becomes maximum, in a method manufacturing the sheet by making the titled polymer adhere to the cooling roll in an electrostatic state. CONSTITUTION:A current value electrifying to a cooling roll 3 side from a wire electrode 4 is detected by a current detector 9, a signal corresponding to said current value is transmitted from a controller 10, the wire electrode is moved in a circumferential direction of a cooling roll by driving a motor 5 and gears 6, 7 and the wire electrode 4 is set at a position wherein said current value becomes maximum, in a method manufacturing a polymer sheet by discharging molten resin above the cooling roll 3 in a sheetlike state from a mouth ring 1, high voltage is applied to the wire electrode 4 by a high voltage impressing device 8, and the polymer sheet is manufactured by making the sheet 2 adhere in an dielectrostatic state to the cooling roll 3. The sheet adheres to the rool favorable as the wire electrode is in the most suitable position always.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the sticking between a roll and film and the defect for transferring the surface of ceramic from occurring by a method wherein polyester film is stretched with ceramic rolls, the surface roughness and the width of recessed part of each of which are rationalized. CONSTITUTION:At the stretching in the longer (longitudinal) direction of film, as stretching rolls, ceramic rolls, the center line average height in surface roughness of each of which is 0.9 mum or less, the maximum width of the recessed pat on the basis of the surface line part of profile of each of which is 80 mum or less and, at the same time, which has 50 or less of the recessed parts having the width of 20 mum or more per unit length of 5 mm, is used. The preferable surface of said ceramic roll has the unevenness of 0.5 - 1.0 mum formed on the recessed part on the basis of said surface line part. Said surface unevenness is obtained by covering the unevenness, which is produced in advance on the surface of a metal roll, for example, with ceramics.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the uneven sheet thickness due to the vibration of a sheet spreading between a mouth piece and a moving cooling body by a method wherein the voltage output, which is applied by a high-voltage generator to a discharge electrode, is variably controlled in response to the vibratory displacement of the thermoplastic resin sheet spreading between the mouth piece and the moving cooling body. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic resin sheet 2, which is melt-extruded from a mouth piece 1, is cooled and solidified by being brought into contact with a moving cooling body (or cooling roller) 3 and, after that, continuously sent through a separating roller 4 to a post-treatment process. A discharge electrode 8 is held at high potential by being applied with high-voltage generated by a high-voltage generator 5. The vibratory displacement of the thermoplastic resin sheet 2 spreading between the mouth piece 1 and the cooling roller 3 is monitored with a laser Doppler type vibrometer 6 so as to send displacement signals to a control device 7. The control device 7 sends control signals, which control high-voltage output so as to suppress the displacements against the sent displacement signals, to the high-voltage generator 5. The potential of the discharge electrode is variably controlled as mentioned above.

The change in the pressure of molten polymer is monitored with a pressure gage 8 so as to send monitored change waveform signal to an analyzer 9 in order to analyze and to express the signal in terms of the sum of a plurality of sinusoidal waves. Control signals generating potential change to apply periodic waveforms, the frequencies and amplitudes of which are equal to and the phases of which are shifted at 180 degrees to each of split up sinusoidal waves, are sent from the analyzer 9 to the high-voltage generator 7 in order to variably control the potential of the discharge electrode 10 as mentioned above.
