Abstract:
A suede-like raised woven fabric having raised fibers on the surface thereof; consisting mainly of a yarn or thread which consists of a bundle of extra-fine fibers (the monofilament denier of which is 0.0001 - 0.4 d). The preparation of the fabric comprises weaving, using as weft said yarn and using as warp a yarn having a coil-like crimp or a coil-like potential crimp capacity, in the organization of the woven fabric except for the raised portion, which consists of an elastic polymer dispersed and adhered in a fibrous state, and/or as fine pieces of film throughout the said fabric. Said fabric has a high density of suede-like naps, has excellent pilling resistance and, wrinkle resistance, feel, and is suitable for apparel.
Abstract:
The weft yarn is composed of a monofilament cor, the cladding being of polystyrene, polyethylene oxide, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester and polyamide with polystyrene and its mixed polymers being preferred. The warp is of a spiral crimped yarn. After removal of the weft yarn cladding by immersion in a soln, the fabric is immersed in an emulsion of flexible polymer to fill the gaps left by the removed cladding. After coagulation and drying, the fabric is roughened to raise a nap. The purpose is to provide a fabric with the handle and strength of suede, but with a softness and handle for apparel application.
