Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the membrane for concentrating an aq. soln. of a volatile org. liq. with the permeability and permselectivity improved by forming the membrane from a soln. of polyvinylidene fluoride-based polymer in a mixture of a solvent for the polymer and a solvent having higher volatility than the polymer solvent. CONSTITUTION:The membrane is formed from the soln. of a polyvinylidene fluoride-based polymer contg. at least 50wt.% polyvinylidene polymer in a mixture of the polymer solvent (e.g. dimethylformamide) and a solvent (e.g. toluene) having higher volatility than the polymer solvent. The ratio of the polymer solvent to the high-volatility solvent is controlled to 0.05-20wt.% based on the total solvent weight. Consequently, the volatile org. liq. is selectively separated from the aq. soln. and concentrated, and a membrane for concentrating an aq. soln. of a volatile org. liq. capable of being used in the liq.-liq. membrane separation method and with the permeability and permselectivity improved is produced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a separation membrane which can be utilized in a membrane distillation type separation method of a liquid-liquid system and a gas-liquid system and is improved in water-permeability by constituting the separation membrane of a hydrophobic porous membrane wherein hydrophilic substance is stuck on the surface of the fine holes. CONSTITUTION:A separation membrane is constituted by sticking hydrophilic substance (e.g. glycerin) on the surfaces of the fine holes of a hydrophobic porous membrane made of polytetrafluoroethylene, etc. The mean pore diameter of the fine holes is preferably regulated to a range within about 20Angstrom and about 0.1mum. Further the rate of amount of stuck hydrophilic substance for the weight of membrane material is preferably regulated to a range within about 0.01-5wt.%. This separation membrane is utilized in the membrane separation method of a liquid-liquid system wherein water contained in liquid is separated while holding the temp. as driving force of separation. Furthermore this separation membrane is utilized in the membrane separation of a gas-liquid system wherein liquid is supplied to the primary side of this membrane and the secondary side is held in a vapor phase and steam passed through this membrane is cooled and collected. As a result, the separation membrane is obtained which is excellent in water-permeability.

The resulting membrane is used to selectively concentrate and separate a volatile org. liq. from an aq. soln. of the org. liq.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the permselectivity to an org. liq. from its aq. soln. by heat-treating a porous membrane contg. a polyvinylidene fluoride-based polymer at >=35 deg.C to form the aq. volatile org. liq. soln.-concentrating membrane. CONSTITUTION:A soln. consisting of a polyvinylidene fluoride-based polymer, its solvent and an org. solvent having higher volatility than the solvent is cast over the surface of a solid, etc., in fixed thickness. The solvents are vaporized for a fixed time, and then the solvent is substituted for a solidifying solvent to obtain a sheet-shaped porous membrane. The porous membrane of the polyvinylidene fluoride-based polymer is heat-treated at a temp. higher than 35 deg.C or appropriately higher than 50 deg.C and lower than the m.p. of the polymer to obtain an aq. volatile org. liq. soln-concentrating membrane. The polyvinylidene fluoride content of the membrane is appropriately controlled to at least 50wt.%.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To manufacture a film to concentrate and separate selectively organic liquid from volatile organic liquid aqueous solution by adding solution of a polymer having fluorine containing alkyl to solution of an acrylonitrile group polymer. CONSTITUTION:Solution of a polymer having fluoroalkyl and whose structure unit is represented by the formula I (representing R1 to R3 =H, alkyl having 1 to 20 carbons, fluoroalkyl, R4= fluoroalkyl having 1 to 20 carbons, X = ester bonding, amide bonding and the like) is added to an acrylonitrile group polymer such as polyacrylonitrile. Then, said mixed solution is manufactured in the form of a porous film of acrylonitrile group polymer. Said film concentrates and separates the organic liquid from the volatile organic liquid aqueous solution with good selectivity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a polyphenylenesulfone hollow fiber membrane wherein heat resistance and solvent resistance are excellent by oxidizing and treating a polyphenylenesulfide sulfone hollow fiber membrane by the acidic aqueous solution of carboxylic acid containing specified alkali metallic salt. CONSTITUTION:The polyphenylenesulfone hollow fiber membrane is obtained by oxidizing and treating a polyphenylenesulfide sulfone hollow yarn membrane by the acidic aqueous solution of carboxylic acid containing alkali metal persulfate, alkali metal sulfite and alkali metal sulfate. Lithium, sodium and potassium of alkali metal or a mixture wherein these are suitably combined is shown as alkali metal persulfate, alkali metal sulfite and alkali metal sulfate used for oxidizing treatment liquid. When potassium is used, the concentration of an oxidizing solution is regulated to a range within about 10-30.0wt.% aqueous solution by adding glacial acetic acid to the aqueous solution of a mixture wherein potassium hydrogen persulfate, potassium hydrogen sulfate and potassium sulfate are mixed at about 2:1:1 (molar ratio).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinneret capable of readily pushing out air or a gas in the interior of the spinneret to the outside of the spinneret and affording a uniform hollow yarn without any defect by installing a specific shelf surface in the upper part of an annular orifice. SOLUTION: This spinneret comprises an annular shelf surface 10, having 45-90 deg., preferably 60-90 deg. angle to a polymer stream fed in the spinning direction and formed in the upper part of an annular orifice 7. The spinneret is capable of imparting a deflection or a turbulent flow to the polymer stream so as to push out air, etc., in the spinneret to the outside of the spinneret. Thereby, a hollow yarn without any defect including bubbles in a membrane wall of the hollow yarn is not spun.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the generation of running-out of yarns during spinning and manufacture a hollow yarn membrane of good performance and quality by using a deaerated injection liquid when the hollow yarn membrane is spun. SOLUTION: When a hollow yarn membrane is manufactured by using an annular spinneret in the wet process or the dry wet process, an injection liquid of low coagulating properties is injected into a central pipe of the annular spinneret, and a deaerated injection liquid is used therein. As a deaeration process, a process of heating the injection liquid to the temperature higher than the room temperature or the like is adopted. When the hollow yarn membrane is manufactured as above-mentioned, the generation of running-out of yarns during spinning is almost eliminated, and the stabilized spinning can be carried out for a long time to improve workability and productivity and also improve the performance and quality of the hollow yarn membrane.
