Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance torsional strength without increasing weight and cost by having a part where thickness of a bias unit layer, which constitutes a bias layer having a specified reinforced fiber winding angle with respect to a tubular body major axis, is specified, and where number of turns of reinforced fiber is specified. SOLUTION: A tubular body has a part within the range of reinforced fiber winding angle of 25-75 degrees with respect to the major axis, that is, bias layers 1 and 2. The reinforced fiber winding angle with respect to the main axis is an absolute value of angle made by a plain including the major axis, and reinforced fiber passing the plane. The tubular body has layered structure, and a single layer where the reinforced fiber winding angle is orientated to the same direction on the bias layers 1 and 2 is called a bias unit layer. The tubular body has a part where thickness of the bias unit layer constituting the bias layers 1 and 2 is 50-100μm, and where number of turns of the reinforced fiber of bias layers 1 and 2 is 2-8. The tubular body can have two bias layers 1 and 2 where winding angles are contrary directions.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a high-grade prepreg by minimizing and dispersing the fluff produced in carbon fiber yarn by shaking a comb arranging a large number of carbon fiber yarns in the direction crossing the feed direction of the fiber yarns by a driving means. CONSTITUTION:A prepreg manufacturing apparatus is constituted of a guide part guiding a large number of carbon fiber yarns, an arranging part arranging the fiber yarns at a specific interval and an impregnation part impregnating the fiber yarns with a resin. The arranging part 20 is constituted of a comb 21 and the motor 22 driving the same and the comb 21 is constituted by parallelly providing a large number of needles 21b guiding the fiber yarns YCF to a support frame 21a. Further, the motor 22 has a disc 22b attached to the leading end of its rotary shaft 22a and the disc 22b is connected to the support frame 21a by a link 23. The comb 21 is shaken in the direction crossing the feed direction of the fiber yarns YCF. By this constitution, the fluff produced in the fiber yarns YCF is minimized and dispersed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent resin from being pressed out beyond the width of release sheet by a method wherein the pressing-out of resin outside the roll length of one roll of a pair of rolls is allowed at the pressing of a laminated body under the condition that the roll length of the one roll is set to be smaller than the width of the release sheet and, at the same time, equal to or longer than the width of prepreg to be produced. CONSTITUTION:Release sheets 42 and 43, which are uncoiled from rolls 45 and 46, so as to be piled to a sheet like reinforcing fiber bundle from above and below with guide rolls 47 and 48. After being heated and passed through two-stage press roll 50 for pressing, the resins 44 on the release sheets are transferred to, impregnated in and spread to reinforcing fiber bundle 41 so as to produce prepreg 51. The roll lengths L of upper rolls 52 and 54 are set to be shorter than the width Ws of the release sheets 42 and 43 and equal to or longer than the width of the prepreg 51. The roll length of lower side rolls 53 and 55 are set to be longer than the width of the release sheets 42 and 43. Some part of the resin 44 is pressed outside the shorter roll 52 between the release sheets 42 and 43. At the position pressed out, the resin is not pressurized and is brought under the state of resin stagnant 60, resulting in keeping the resin within the widths Ws of the release sheets 42 and 43.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled material wherein amount of resin is more in one half side zone from the middle of thickness than in the other half side zone, tackiness is high on the surface and interlamina peeling and shear at forming time is prevented by impregnating reinforced fibers with half-hardening resin. CONSTITUTION:A mold release sheet 1 carrying half-hardened thermosetting resin is travelled, reinforced fiber 2 is supplied and the mold release sheet 1 is lapped on a fiber reinforced sheet 2 with said resin surface inside. Then, a mold release sheet 3 carrying half hardened thermosetting resin that is preferably 20- 50% more in amount than the mold release sheet 1 is lapped on the reinforced fiber 2 with the resin surface inside. Then, the sheet that holds the reinforced fiber 2 between the resin surfaces of these mold release sheets 1, 3 is inverted into heating press rolls 4, to stretch the reinforced fiber 2, to transfer the resins on the mold release sheets 1, 3 to the reinforced fiber 2, to be impregnated with resin and then the mold release sheet 3 only is peeled to obtain prepreg material.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate the production of prepreg materials for bias layers by laminating release sheets carrying resin thereon on both upper and lower surfaces of a sheet consisting of parallel reinforced fibers, peeling off one of the release sheets from a prepreg produced while allowing resin carried on the release sheets to be transferred to and infiltrated into the fiber-reinforced sheet, and taking up the laminated sheet consisting of the fiber-reinforced sheet and the other release sheet after cutting and removing the edges of the other release sheet that are pressed out. CONSTITUTION:Release sheets 32, 33, at least one of which carries resin on its one face on a fiber-reinforced sheet 31 side, are continuously laminated on both faces of the fiber-reinforced sheet 31 made by uniformly drawing out a reinforcing fiber bundle in one direction in the form of a sheet. After this laminate is preliminarily heated by a heating plate 39, it is heated and pressed by heating rolls 40a to 40c and press rolls 41a to 41c, whereby the resin carried on the release sheet is transferred to and infiltrated into the fiber-reinforced sheet 31 and a prepreg 42 is thus formed. The release sheet 32 on the upper side is then peeled off, and a laminated sheet 48, from which the edges 46 of the release sheet 33 that have been pressed out on both sides of the prepreg 42 over its width are continuously cut and removed, is taken up by a roll. The laminated sheet 48 thus made is cut into parallelogrammatic sheets 53 along cutting lines 52 inclined by an angle alpha with respect to the array direction 51 of the reinforcing fibers to make prepreg materials for bias layers.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an epoxy resin composition in which a suitable amount of a solid synthetic rubber can be uniformly dispersed and which required no solvent, by masticating a solid synthetic rubber, mixing the masticated rubber with a solid epoxy resin and mixing the obtained mixture with a liquid epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic rubber is masticated with, e.g., a double-arm pressure kneader. The solid synthetic rubber having a MW decreased by mastication is mixed with at least one pt.wt., per pt.wt. synthetic rubber, solid epoxy resin of a m.p. of 50-110 deg.C, and the mixture is kneaded. By this kneading, the synthetic rubber can be mixed with the epoxy resin and dispersed therein, while it is being comminuted. The obtained mixture is mixed with at least two pts.wt., per pt.wt. solid synthetic resin contained in it, liquid epoxy resin, and the resulting mixture is kneaded to disperse the synthetic rubber in the epoxy resin.

Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled prepreg which can form an FRP pipe having well-balanced strength in the longitudinal and circumferential directions, made by laminating a scrim cloth of reinforcing fibers in a specified direction on one side of a unidirectional prepreg. CONSTITUTION:Reinforcing fibers 2 (e.g. carbon fibers) arranged parallel and unidirectionally in the sheet form are impregnated with a thermosetting resin to form a unidirectional prepreg 1 (the reinforcing fiber content of about 30- 80wt%; the thickness of about 0.02-1mm.). Then a scrim cloth 3 made of a plain- woven cloth of glass fibers, etc. (the unit weight of about 10-80g/m ; the thickness of about 0.01-0.1mm.), having a difference in yarn density between the warp and fill directions, is laminated on one side of the above-mentioned prepreg so as to bring the direction of less yarn density in line with the direction of the reinforcing fibers of the prepreg, giving the scrim-cloth laminated prepreg (numeral 4 refers to a release paper).

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber-reinforced prepreg with less generation of unevenness by being kept in standing after cutting and a low resin content by specifying the content of a matrix resin and the peeling resistance between the prepreg and a release sheet. CONSTITUTION: In a prepreg material in which a prepreg consisting of a reinforcing fiber and a matrix resin is sticked on a release sheet, the content of the matrix resin in the prepreg is 13-32wt.% and the peeling resistance between the prepreg and the release sheet is 10-250g/25mm. As the reinforcing fiber, glass fibers, aramide fibers and carbon fibers are preferable. In addition, as the matrix resin, epoxy resins are ordinarily used. In addition, as the release sheet,e.g. by adjusting appropriately the knid and the amt. of a silicone releasing agent, the peeling resistance of the prepreg can be made within the aimed range.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition which can firmly bond a prepreg to e.g. a mandrel at 30-40 deg.C and has no tackiness and therefore good workability at 22-26 deg.C by adding a curing agent to a specified epoxy resin mixture. CONSTITUTION:This composition is one prepared by mixing 100 pts.wt. normally solid epoxy resin with 30-70 pts.wt. normally semisolid epoxy resin and 1-10 pts.wt. curing agent. Its adhesiveness at 22-26 deg.C is 100g/cm or below, and that at 30-40 deg.C is 150g/cm or above. It is desirable that at most 20 pts.wt. of rubber component per 100 pts.wt. normally solid epoxy resin is added to the composition. The rubber component is effective to increase the adhesiveness of the composition at 30-40 deg.C and to thereby increase the force of bonding a prepreg to a mandrel.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the disorder of end reinforcing fibers in divided sheet- shaped prepregs by forming a belt-shaped area in no existence of reinforcing fibers after the resin infiltration without using spacers on a mold release sheet or support sheet, and rendering a plurality of divided prepregs separable easily in the belt-shaped area. CONSTITUTION:Upper and lower mold release sheets 15, 16 bearing thermosetting resin or a mixed resin of thermosetting resin and thermoplastic resin are laid on divided sheet-shaped reinforcing fibers 11a, 11b divided in the direction of the sheet width and by means of respective stage press rolls, in particular, first stage press rolls 23, 24, resin 17 is infiltrated in the reinforcing fibers and by means of second stage press rolls 25, 26 and third press rolls 27, 28, infiltration is further advanced. In the stage of passing through the third stage press rolls 27, 28, divided prepregs 32a, 32b are accomplished practically and the area between both prepregs 32a, 32b becomes a belt-shaped area 31b in which reinforcing fibers do not exist and resin 17 exists only therein. From these laminates of prepregs 32a, 32b and mold release sheet 15, 16, one mold release sheet 15 is separated at the position of a guide roll 33 and the mold release sheet 15 separated is wound up as a roll 34.
