Abstract: PURPOSE:To clean a cell without stopping an analyzing operation and improve the stability of measuring by moving a cleaning ball made of a soft elastic material and having a diameter larger than the inside diameter of a sample cell in the cell utilizing the movement of an inspected liquid. CONSTITUTION:If output from a cleaning control device 18 stops, a sample cell 4 enters a cleaning operation. An inspected liquid which flows in from a sample inflow tube 22 flows into the cell 4 via a change-over valve 21, a cell connecting port 9 and a receiving net 6, and in doing so, washes off a cleaning ball 7 from the net 6 into the cell 4. The ball 7 moves closely on the inside wall of the cell 4 and cleans the inside wall. An inspected liquid in the cell 4 passes a receiving net 5, a cell connecting port 8 and a change-over valve 20 and flows outside from a sample discharge pipe 23. During the cleaning operation, a measuring state is stopped only at an instant when the ball 7 crosses the light passage of the cell 4, and so it gives no disturbance to measuring. After the cleaning operation has been finished, a measuring state is started with the ball 7 pressed against the net 5 or 6.
