    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to analyze even a sample containing carbon, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide highly accurately by obtaining the increment of the carbon monoxide in a closed gas path after the sample is introduced. CONSTITUTION:A carrier gas is circulated in a closed gas path 1. Oxygen in the carrier gas is exhausted to the outside of the closed gas path 1 with an electrochemical oxygen pump 7 using solid electrolyte. The partial pressure of the oxygen in the closed gas path is made to be the sufficiently low constant partial pressure. Thereafter, a sample 17 is introduced into the closed gas path 1, and the oxygen in the sample is discharged into the closed gas path 1. The discharged oxygen is exhausted into the outside of the closed gas path 1 with the oxygen pump 7. Thus the discharged amount of the oxygen is obtained. The increment of carbon monoxide in the closed gas path 1 after the introduction of the sample 17 is obtained. The amount of the oxygen forming the carbon monoxide in the increment is obtained. Then, the amount of the oxygen and the amount of the discharged oxygen are added. In this way, even the sample 17 containing carbon, the carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide can be analyzed highly accurately.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To regenerate oxygen pump electrodes by repeatedly and quickly dropping the DC voltage to be impressed to the oxygen pump electrode or repeatedly changing over the polarities thereof. CONSTITUTION:A carrier gas is passed in a cylinder 20 made of a solid electrolyte of the oxygen pump 8 from one end toward the other end via a sample introducing means by the effect of a circulation pump and is returned to the circulation pump. Porous electrodes 22, 23 are provided to the inside and outside of the cylinder 20 and the specified voltage is impressed thereto by a DC power source 28. A current rectifying cylinder 21 is put in the electrolyte 20. The DC voltage is quickly dropped in order to regenerate the electrodes 22, 23. Then the oxygen partial pressure at the boundary face between the inside electrode 22 and the electrolyte 20 increases sharply and the foreign matter sticking to the electrode 22 is removed; in addition, the grown crystal grains are disintegrated and the electrode 22 is regenerated. The outside electrode 23 is similarly regenerated when the voltage is increased to the original value in order to make the next drop.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent stress concentration at a coupling part due to radical change in temperature, by coupling a sensor to a holder via ring members, and filling a powder material in a space formed by a holder wall, a sensor wall, and the ring members. CONSTITUTION:In a protecting tube 1 comprising a heat resistant material, are arranged the holder 2, a retaining ring 3, and a nozzle 4. At the central part of the holder 2, is provided a mounting hole for the sensor 5. The sensor 5 has a diaphragm 6 comprising solid state electrolyte. In the vicinity of the closed end thereof, porous electrodes 7 and 8 are provided. The open end of the diaphragm 6 is coupled to the mounting hole of the holder 2 via the two ring members 9 and 10. The heat resistant powder material 11 is filled in the space formed by said ring members 9 and 10, the inner wall of the mounting hole of the holder 2, and the center wall of the diaphragm 6. Said powder material is compressed by the retaining ring 3. The holder 2 is attached to a flange 13 with bolts 12 so that it can be freely attached or detached.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an accurate and stable measured result enhanced in reliability by correcting the drift of the electromotive force generated in a carbon dioxide sensor during the continuous measurement of gas to be inspected. CONSTITUTION:A drift correcting circuit 14 correcting the drift of the electromotive force generated in a carbon dioxide sensor 10 during the measurement of gas to be inspected containing carbon dioxide is provided. By adjusting a variable resistor R so that a measuring current I3 satisfies I3=EXR4/R3R5, even when the concn. of carbon dioxide in the gas to be inspected changes and the generated electromotive force E of the sensor 10 changes in proportion thereto, the sensor is operated so that the current I1 flowing to a series resistor R1 always holds a condition I1=0 for preventing the accumulation of a sodium ion.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the realization of a small and inexpensive sensor by measuring the concentration of carbon dioxide to be inspected using an Na conducting solid electrolyte by a direct interpolation formula to secure a high accuracy and a high stability. CONSTITUTION:An electrically insulating material 1 is a tubular body with both ends thereof opened and a heating element 6 is arranged on an outer surface thereof while an anode electrode 4 on the inner surface thereof. A block of an Na conducting solid electrolyte is inserted into a hollow part of the insulating material so as not to contact the inner surface thereof directly. The electrolyte 2 has a cathode electrode 3 formed at one end 2b thereof and a layer 5 of Na2CO3 is provided to bridge between the other end thereof and the electrode 4. When a gas to be inspected having carbon dioxide contacts this sensor, an electromotive force is generated between the electrodes 3 and 4 in proportion to the concentration of the carbon dioxide (partial pressure). If a relationship between the gas and the electromotive force is prepared by a calibration curve, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the gas to be inspected can be learned from the electromotive force when the sensor is inserted into the gas to be inspected. Thus, the electrolyte 2 and the electrode 4 are so arranged as not to contact each other directly, thereby achieving a higher accuracy and stability.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a filter disc or a cleaner blade from receiving abnormally large force, by arranging filter discs in a shifted state when looking at two discs opposed to each other, so that the arms thereof do not coincide. CONSTITUTION:A liquid to be filtered is continuously supplied into a container 3 from an introducing port 1 and filtered. When a motor 7 is operated, the filter discs 9 fixed to and supported by the support shaft 8 of a filter cartridge 6 rotates and, at the same time, cleaner blades 10 also rotate in connection with said discs 9 but the cleaner blades 10 are contacted with a stopper 13 in no time and the revolution thereof is stopped. With this operation, the scrape- off action by the cleaner blades 10 begins to scrape off the solid adhered to the outer periphery of the cartridge 6 in the container 3. The scraped-off solid is discharged out of container 3 from a solid discharge port 5 by opening a valve 4, as necessary.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make measurement accurately and rapidly by blowing an oxygen- contg. gas into culture liquid, and controlling the humidity of the aeration exhaust gas produced from a culture tank and the oxygen-contg. gas then comparing the differences in oxygen concn. with a reference gas. CONSTITUTION:An aeration blowing gas contg. oxygen is sent from an air diffusion pipe 8a into a culture tank 1 which is tightly closed by a lead-in pipe 2. The exhaust gas produced by aeration is conducted via an exhaust pipe 4 into the collecting device 12a of a humidity controller 10, where it is humidified by water and is made into a measuring gas. This gas is conducted via piping 14a into an oxygen meter 15. On the other hand, part of the aeration blowing gas is diffused by the gas diffusion pipe 8c in the humidity control device 10 and is collected by a collecting device 12b. This gas is used as a reference gas and is conducted via piping 14b into the oxygen meter 15. Then, in the oxygen meter 15, the difference in the oxygen concn. between both gases is measured whereby the rate of oxygen utilization of microorganisms is measured.
