Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a film which is used for a magnetic tape and hardly suffers envenomation due to copper, consisting of a reaction product between a dicarboxylic acid component and a diamine component composed of diaminodiphenylsulfone and an arom. diamine having a Cl substituent on a benzene ring. CONSTITUTION:A polymer consisting of 20-90mol% basic unit of formulaI (wherein m, n are each 0-3 with the proviso that m+n>=1), 10-80mol% copolymer unit of formula II (r is 0-3) and 0-70mol% structural unit of formula III (wherein X is O, S, CO, CH2, a group of formula IV or V; S is 0-3) is dissolved in an org. solvent, and then molded into a film by a wet process or a dry process. The film is heat-treated to obtain the titled film. Said polymer can be obtd. by subjecting terephthalyl chloride, 2-chloro-p-phenylene-diamine and 4,4- diaminodiphenyl sulfone to a solution polymn. or an interfacial polymn. EFFECT:Good heat resistance, solubility and hygroscopicity.
