    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the polyester film which contains spherical silica particles of a specific volume average particle diameter and a relative standard deviation and calcium carbonate particles of a specific volume average particle diameter, thus shows good running durability, pancake-rolling properties, and slit properties. CONSTITUTION:After ester-interchange reaction of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol at 245 deg.C, the polycondensation reaction is effected together with phosphoric acid, antimony trioxide and spherical silica particles to prepare a polyester. Similar operations are repeated with calcium carbonate particles instead of the silica particles. Then, they are mixed, melt-extruded into film, oriented to provide the film containing 0.005 to 5.0wt. of spherical silica particles of 0.1 to 2.0mum volume average particle diameter and over 0.5 relative standard deviation defined by the formula (Di is the area circle diameter calculated from the projected areas of individual particles in mum; D is the number average value of Di in mum; n is the number of the particles measured) and 0.005 to 5.0wt.% of calcium carbonate particles of 0.1 to 2.0mum volume average particle diameter.
