    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve a running durability for a repeated usage, improve slitting characteristics in a manufacturing process and realize high picture quality by a method wherein a prescribed contact of spherical silica particles having prescribed characteristics are contained. CONSTITUTION:A film contains 0.005-5.0wt.% of spherical silica particles which have volume average particle diameters of 0.1-2.0mum whose relative standard deviation defined by formula I is 0.3-1.5 and whose particle size distribution curve shows a one-peak distribution when the grade widths H (mum) of the particle diameters are expressed by formula II. The surface orientation index F and DELTAN of the silica particle satisfy formulae III simultaneously. In the formula I, Di denotes an area-circle equivalent diameter (mum) which is obtained from the projection area of each particle and DN denotes a numerical averageof area-circle equivalent diameters [SIGMAi1-nDi)/n] (mum) and (n) denotes the number of measured particles.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thermoplastic polyester composition having excellent slipperiness, abrasion resistance and transparency and suitable for the base film of magnetic recording tape by finely and homogeneously dispersing calcium aluminate particles in a thermoplastic polyester. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic polyester is compounded with 0.001-10wt.% (preferably 0.01-5wt.%) of calcium aluminate particles having an average particle diameter of 0.01-5mum (preferably 0.1-3mum). The particle is added during the polyester production process, especially before the ester interchange reaction or within a period before the esterification reaction and before the polycondensation reaction preferably in the form of a slurry suspended in glycol.
