Abstract: A multi-layered conjugated acrylic fiber comprises different acrylic polymers which are conjugated along the fiber axis in layers. On the average the fiber contains more than two layers of acrylic polymers. The shrinkage forming ratio in boiling water of the conjugated acrylic fiber is 7 - 15% and the shrinkage forming stress is 5 - 20 mg/denier. To make the acrylic fiber water absorbent, one or more of the acrylic polymers may contain 0.3 to 2.0 mmole/g of carboxylic acid groups. The fibers may be made by introducing the polymers into a static mixer in such a way as to retain a number of separate layers of the polymers, and thence to a spinneret through a filter having a maximum mesh space of 10 mu m or more. After spinning out the dope, it is drawn, washed and dried. Except where water-absorbent fiber is wanted, this is followed by shrinkage forming treatment and redrawing; the water-absorbent fiber is treated with alkali solution either in the form of yarn, or a fabric made therefrom.

Abstract: Multi-layered conjugated acrylic fibre comprises different acrylic polymers which are conjugated along the fibre axis in layers. Its shrinkage forming ratio in boiling water is 7-15 percent and its shrinkage forming stress in dry heat is 5-20 mg per denier. The polymers are pref made essentially from the same two monomers and the maximum difference in the molar ratios of the copolymerisable component, expressed as mole percent, is 1-10. The polymers are conjugated along the fibre axis in more than 4 layers on average.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an acrylic fiber having excellent needle-punching properties, hardly causing cutting of fibers by providing an acrylic fiber having specific physical properties with a finishing oil containing specific amounts of a fatty acid amide, a phosphoric ester and a nonionic surfactant. CONSTITUTION:An acrylic fiber having =20%, preferably >=30% tensile elongation is provided with 0.2-2% owf finishing oil comprising 20-50wt.% fatty acid amide of the formula (R is 12-22C alkyl; m is 1-5), 15-40wt.% phosphoric ester and 20-70wt.% nonionic surfactant in the spinning process of the fiber and then heat-treated preferably for supplying mechanical crimping and elongation improvement to give an acrylic fiber for nonwoven fabric having excellent needle-punching property. The prepared nonwoven fabric shows excellent appearance and is suitable for uses such as wiping cloth or artificial leather.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain the subject fiber having soft feeling, by passing an acrylic polymer containing carboxylic acid groups and other acrylic polymers through a device for forming many layers, dividing the polymers into layers, spinning the polymers and treating the resultant fiber with an alkaline solution. CONSTITUTION:(A) A carboxylic acid group-containing vinyl monomer, such as crotonic acid, in an amount of preferably 1-17mol% (based on the total monomers) is copolymerized with acrylonitrile to provide (A) a carboxylic acid group-containing acrylic polymer. The resultant polymer and (B) other acrylic polymers containing preferably >=80mol% acrylonitrile are then passed through a device for forming many layers, divided and spun so as to provide >=3 number of theoretical layers expressed by the formula (K is a constant dependent on the contour shape of a spinneret), subsequently passed through (C) an alkaline solution, such as sodium carbonate, subjected to swelling treat ment and treated with (D) a dissolvent, such as caustic soda, to dissolve the component (A). Thereby, the aimed fiber is obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber, consisting of two or more kinds of acrylic polymers with different copolymerization compositions, having a specific multilayered structure and shrinking characteristics, excellent in spinning properties and latently having bulky and soft feeling. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber, consisting of two or more kinds of acrylic polymers having different copolymerization compositions, constituted of fibers of a multilayerd structure obtained by joining the above-mentioned acrylic polymers in the longitudinal direction of the fiber axis in the single filament so as to exceed 2 layers on the average and latently having the ability to provide 8-25% shrinkage factor in boiling water and 10-20peaks/25mm number of exhibited crimps and further >=1.3g/d knot strength. The above-mentioned fiber is preferably prepared by separately admitting spinning solutions of the two or more kinds of acrylic polymers into a multilayer-forming device, dividing the solution into 8-20 layers and spinning the layers though a filter having 20-50 mesh opening from a spinneret, then drying and densifying the resultant fiber and subjecting the obtained fiber to crimp exhibiting and secondary drawing treatment.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the title fiber of stabilized quality with reduced irregularity in multi-layer formation, by restricting the solution viscosity of the spinning dope and the mesh size of the filter through which the dope passes through after formation of multi-layer structure in the production of fibers of a multi- layer structure from 2 or more acrylic polymers different in copolymerization composition. CONSTITUTION:Two spinning dopes A, B whose copolymerization compositions are different from each other, and solution viscosities have a difference less than 50 poise at 60 deg.C are divided into layers by means of multi-layer-forming unit 2, then introduced through the filter of more than 10 micron pore size 3 into the spinneret 4. Then, the yarn is drawn, washed with water, dried, preferably further, crimped with steam heat at 108-125 deg.C, and drawn again to give the subject yarn. Two or more kinds of acrylic copolymers are preferably selected from those whose differences in copolymerization components are in a range from 1 to 5mole%.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber, capable of providing a product excellent in bulkiness and feeling and improved in crimp exhibiting properties, by dividing spinning solutions of two or more kinds of acrylic polymers having different copolymerization compositions into many layers, spinning the solutions into a yarn, drying and densifying the yarn and subjecting the densified yarn to specific treatment. CONSTITUTION:Spinning solutions of two or more kinds of acrylic polymers having different compositions are initially divided into layers so as to provide >=3 theoretical number of layers in single filament expressed by the formula (K is a constant dependent on the contour shape of a spinneret) and then introduced through a filter having >=10mu mesh opening into a spinneret. The resultant yarn is subsequently drawn, washed with water, dried, densified, then preheated with steam under ordinary pressure and mechanically crimped. The resultant mechanically crimped yarn is then subjected to crimp exhibiting treatment, redrawing treatment and mechanical crimping to afford the aimed fiber.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled fiber outstanding in crimp uniformity developed, bulkiness, soft touch and uniform dyeability, having such constitution that a plural of acrylic polymer which differ in copolymer composition with one another form a multilayer conjugate structure in specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber having such constitution that one polymer component among a plural of acrylic polymer which differ in copolymer composition with one another is divided in the other polymer component into one or more layers, forming part of the fiber surface and also forming asymmetrical continuous structure in the fiber axis direction. Shrinkage when crimped is 7-15%, and crimping stress is 5-20mg/d. This fiber can be obtained by the following process; spinning stock solutions A and B corresponding to respective component polymers are divided into >=3 layers in terms of the theoretical layer number in a single filament [=layer number of spinning stock solution flow to be divided/K.(hole number of spinneret) ; K is constant depending on spinneret configuration] using a multilayer-forming device 2, followed by delivery through a spinneret 4 via a filter 3 and by passing through a crimping device 5 and/or re-stretching device 6.
