    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition, industrially producible at a low cost, capable of manifesting excellent electrocoductivity and useful as an antistatic transparent laminate, etc., by compounding electroconductive inorganic fine particles having several kinds of average particle diameters in a film- forming component. SOLUTION: This film-forming composition comprises (A) electroconductive inorganic fine particles having two or more kinds of average particle diameters [e.g. the ones composed of (A1 ) particles having 40-120nm average particle diameter (R1) and (A2 ) particles having 1-30nm average particle diameter (R2) at (90:10) to (50:50) mixing volume ratio of A1 :A2 and >=4 average particle diameter ratio R1/R2] and (B) a film-forming component. The composition preferably contains 50-80wt.% component A.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a hard-coat film having a high refractive index, excellent in wear resistance and capable of being cured by cross-linking in a short time by forming the film with a composition contg. a specified component. CONSTITUTION: The composition contg. a component A as a multifunctional acrylate and a component B as >=1 kind of inorg. oxide fine grain selected from among antimony oxide, tin oxide, indium-tin mixed oxide, cerium oxide, titania and zirconia, is cured to constitute the hard-coat film. An acrylate having >=2 functional groups in one molecule can be used as the multifunctional acrylate of the component A. The functional group curable with photopolymerization, an active energy beam such as electron beam and radiation and heat are used, and especially the photopolymerizable functional group is preferably used. Although the inorg. oxide fine grain used in the component B can be dispersed in the coating film on condition that the transparency of the film is maintained, a sol wherein the grains are dispersed in the form of colloid is most preferably used from the standpoint of operability, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To postform a protective cover adjusting to the shape of an article to be protected, and manufacture the protective cover inexpensively because dies, etc., for respective kinds of articles to be protected do not need to be prepared by constituting the protective cover of at least one kind which is selected from among a fiber-formed object, a net-formed object and a fabric-formed object, and a thermoplastic elastomer. CONSTITUTION:A protective cover is constituted of at least one kind which is selected from among a fiber-formed object, a net-formed object and a fabric-formed object, and a thermoplastic elastomer. Preferably, the protective cover is constituted of a fiber-formed object and a thermoplastic elastomer, and the fiber-formed object, the net-formed object and the fabric-formed object prevent the protective cover from locally being drawn to be thin and broken, at the time of postforming of the protective cover. As combination methods, there are a method wherein the fiber-formed object, etc., are contained in a sheet or film of the thermoplastic elastomer, and a method wherein the fiber-formed object, etc., are pinched between a plurality of sheets or films of the thermoplastic elastomer, etc. As the postforming, there are methods wherein the protective cover is put on an article to be protected, and the protective cover is heated, and wherein a space between the article to be protected and protective cover is vacuumized, and then, the protective cover is heated, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the surface hardness and to improve cleaning characteristics by forming a polymer layer containing an org. photochromic compd. and a transparent protective layer comprising an inorg. oxide on a base body having specified or higher reflectance for visible rays. CONSTITUTION:A polymer layer containing an org. photochromic compd. and a transparent protective layer comprising an inorg. oxide are formed in this order on a base body having >=30% reflectance for visible rays. As for the photochromic layer, such a structure that the photochromic compd. is dispersed in a polymer or incorporated into the polymer by covalent bonding can be used. In this method, it is preferable that the transparent protective layer has 0.1-0.8mum thickness. Further, the contrast is preferably >=10% for 630 + or -50nm wavelength region which is used for detection of images. Further, it is preferable to form an org. coating layer having >=90 degree and >=25 degree static contact angles for water and hexadecane, respectively, on the image recording parts.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To inexpensively produce a protecting cover without requiring any die adaptable for the various kinds of the articles to be protected by making the protecting cover used for keyboard, etc., of thermoplastic elastomer. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic film is folded on. itself and the two sides are thereafter sealed under heat into a bag-like cover with heat sealed sides 2. A hole is formed in the center of the bag-like cover and a hose connecting part 3 is bonded to the hole. After placing an article such as keyboard for computer into the bag, the sides of a moth 4 of the bag are fastened together by a bar clip 5 and the hose of a vacuum cleaner is connected to the hose connecting part 3. In this condition, a switch of the vacuum cleaner is turned on to evacuate the protecting cover so as to reduce its inner pressure, a hair dryer is then used in order to spray hot air against the protecting cover for about three minutes and then cold air against it, the bar clip 5 is thereafter removed to take out the keyboard and superfluous parts are severed from the protecting cover by a cutter to conform the bag with the keyboard in a neat manner.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an optical article having excellent antistaining properties by providing a copolymer film obtained from fluoroalkyl acrylate monomers represented by specific formulae and other component on the surface of a reflec tion preventing film composed of silicon dioxide. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer film consisting of a fluoroalkyl (meth)acrylate monomer represented by formula I or II, a fluoroalkyl (meth)acrylate monomer represented by formula III and a monomer having a copolymerizable double bond is provided on the surface of the single-layer or multi-layer reflection preventing film whose surface layer is based on silicon dioxide or magnesium fluoride provided on a plastic base material. The copolymer film has a thickness of 1-20nm and the surface reflectivity thereof is 3% or less and the stationary contact angle to water thereof is 105 deg. or more.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve thermal stability, solvent resistance, mechanical characteristics, and weatherability while securing a low refraction factor by using copolymer containing specific fluorine-containing acrylate unit and N-alkyl maleimide unit at a specific ratio as a raw material. CONSTITUTION:The copolymer that contains 30-99.8 percent by weight of fluorine-containing acrylate unit and 70-0.2 percent by weight of N-alkyl maleimide unit shown in a formula I is used as a raw material. An acrylate unit represented by a formula II and/or a (meta)acrylate unit represented by formula III are contained as a fluorine-containing acrylate unit. In the formula I, R1 represents an alkyl group or a fluoroalkyl group selected from among methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, etc. In the formula II, X1 and X2 represent H or F, while n represents 1 or 2 and m represents an integer from 4 to 10 inclusive. In the formula III, X3 represents H, F or methyl, p represents 1 or 2, k represents an integer from 2 to 10 inclusive, X4 represents H or F, and R2 represents the alkyl group selected from among methyl, ethyl, and propyl.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent lowering of the optical transmission performance of the titled optical fiber, even in case of using it under heating for long period by using a homopolymer contg. a compd. having one or more of double bonds capable of effecting a vinyl polymerization in a specific molecule, or the copolymer copolymerized said compd., as a core component of the titled optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:In the titled optical fiber contg. the polymer formed by the vinyl polymerization as the core component, the titled optical fiber is formed of the homopolymer contg. a phosphorous compd. which has a molecular group contg. one or more of the double bonds capable of effecting the vinyl polymerization in the molecule and is shown by formula I, or the copolymer copolymerized with said phosphorous compd., as the core component. In the formula, (n) is an integer of 1, 2 or 3, R is a molecular group, at least one of R groups contains a double bond capable of effecting the vinyl polymerization. Thus, the reduction of the optical transmission performance of the titled optical fiber can be prevented, even in case of using it under heating for the long period.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber having an excellent optical transmission characteristic in a near infra-red range, and to lessen an increasement of a loss under a high temperature and a humidity conditions by using as a core component, the polymer contg. a specific fluorine substd. deuterium styrene unit as an essential repeating unit. CONSTITUTION:The core component composes of the polymer contg. the fluorine substd. deuterium styrene unit. shown by the formula as the essential repeating unit. The rate of depressing the refractive index by substituting with the fluorine atom is not large in the core component. Almost all materials which are used as a sheath component in the case of optical fiber that PMMA is used as the core component, are used as the sheath component. The extent of the selection of the sheath component is very wide. By substituted a hydrogen atom of an aromatic ring contd. in the styrene polymer with the fluorine atom and the heavy hydrogen atom, a hygroscopicity of the obtd. polymer is remarkably decreased. A vibration absorption strength of the O-H bonding due to the hygroscopicity reduces not only in the visible range but also in the near infra-red range.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermosetting coating composition that has a high hardness, and excellent wear resistance and storage stability by compounding a composition of an epoxy-containing compound and a metal compound in the presence of an acid component furthermore with specific quantities of water and a specific compound. SOLUTION: This thermosetting coating composition contains, in the presence of an acid component, (A) an epoxy-containing compound (preferably an epoxy resin of bisphenol-A type, (B) a metal compound (preferably an aluminum chelate compound, such as aluminum acethylacetonate), (C) water in a quantity of 1/3 to 10mol per epoxy group, and also (D) a salt of a tertiary amine (for example, triethanolamine) and an organic acid (for example, acetic acid) in a ratio of 1-200mol to 1mol of the acid. To secure excellent transparency, high surface hardness, etc., the resin composition is preferably compounded with organosilicon compound such as methylsilicate and/or its hydrolyzate. Furthermore, to provide a high refractive index for the composition, particulate inorganic oxide, preferably titanium dioxide, may added to the compound.
