    Abstract: A polyolefinic resin is combined with a (meth)acrylic polyfunctional monomer in a generally central region of its chemical formula, having an aromatic ring, an alicyclic ring or a heterocyclic ring and a pyrolyzable chemical foaming agent to give a curable and foamable polyolefinic resin composition. The composition is shaped into a sheet, then cured and foamed into a sheet foam. The cured foam of polyolefinic resin is curable to a degree of curing of from 10 to 70 %, to give a foam having good heat resistance, good workability and shapability , and good pressure resistance.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crosslinking type polypropylene-based foamable resin composition capable of providing a foam excellent in thermal stability and enabling the foamed body to be secondarily processed to form a complicated shape. SOLUTION: This cross-linking type polypropylene-based foamable resin composition is obtained by compounding 100 pts.wt. mixed resins consisting or 50-90 wt.% polypropylene-based resin having 0.5-10 g/10 min MFR(melt flow rate) and 10-50 wt.% polyethylene-based resin having 1.0-30 g/10 min MFR, with 0.5-10 pts.wt. biphenyl-based compound of the formula, having 5-100 wt.% divinylbiphenyl content, and 1-20 pts.wt. heat-decomposing type foaming agent. The foamed body is produced by forming the composition into a continuous sheet shape, irradiating the formed sheet with ionizing radiation, and heating and foaming the irradiated sheet under a normal pressure.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crosslinked polyolefin resin foam which can be free of discharge dielectric breakdown holes by crosslinking a polyolefin resin in a resin compsn. comprising the resin, a metal alkenylsulfonate, and a blowing agent with an electron beam and incorporating closed cells into the compsn. SOLUTION: The objective closed-celled foam having a degree of crosslinking of a polyolefin resin of 10-70% is obtd. by irradiating a resin compsn. comprising 100 pts.wt. polyolefin resin, 0.05-3 pts.wt. metal alkenylsulfonate, and a thermally decomposable blowing agent (e.g. azodicarbonamide) with an ionizing radiation. The polyolefin resin is a polyethylene resin having a density of 0.915-0.940 g/cm3 and an MFR of 1-30 g/10 min, a polypropylene resin having an m.p. of 125-155 deg.C and an MFR of 0.5-10 g/10 min, or a mixture thereof. An alkali or alkaline earth metal salt of a 9-13C alkenylsulfonic acid having an m.p. of 170-210 deg.C is used as the metal alkenylsulfonate.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the generation of sublimates attributable to decomposition residues of a decomposition-type chemical foaming agent, decrease the amount of the sublimable compound remaining in a foamed body and widely decrease the generation of sublimates when a foamed body product is heated again. SOLUTION: When a crosslinked foamed body is produced from a polyolefin resin by azodicarbonamide and a high-decomposition exothermic type foaming agent whose calorific value is twice or more that of azodicarbonamide and whose gas generation value is equal to or more than that of azodicarbonamide is used as a heat decomposition-type chemical foaming agent, and 0.5-20 wt.% of an alkali metal chloride and/or an oxide of a 2A-group element in the periodic table is used together, based on the heat decomposition-type chemical foaming agent.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an polyolefin-based resin crosslinked foam having a smooth skin surface and larger diameters of cells and therefore having an excellent compression characteristics, and to provide its method. SOLUTION: When including both (A) an exothermically decomposable chemical foaming agent and (B) an endothermically decomposable foaming agent in an polyolefin-based resin and then applying electron beam curing, the polyolefin-based resin crosslinked foam of this invention has 10-50 times expansion ratio, 15-50% crosslinking degree, 0.6-1.5 mm average bubble diameter and a compression strength (25%) larger than that of the polyolefin-based resin crosslinked foam obtained from the resin composition having the same composition as the above resin composition except for not containing the agent B by 1.2-2.0 times. The polyolefin-based resin crosslinked foam is obtained by the extrusion molding of a polyolefin-based resin composition added with an agent A having >=25 kcal/mol decomposition calorific value and an B agent, in which the decomposition temperature is lower than that of the agent A, at the temperature lower than that of the decomposition temperature of the agent A, by electron beam curing of the foamable molded product and then by thermal foaming at the temperature 10-50 deg.C higher than that of the decomposition temperature of the agent A.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition for polyethylene crosslinked foams which is crosslinked by electron beams and has an excellent heat resistance, moldability and flexibility using a polyethylene resin prepared through high- pressure radical polymerization, and to provide a foam thereof. SOLUTION: The resin composition for polyethylene crosslinked foams has a high-pressure, radically polymerized polyethylene resin (resin a) having a density of from 0.915 to 0.924 g/cm and an MFR of from 0.5 to 15 g/10 min and a high-pressure, radically polymerized polyethylene resin (resin b) having a density of from 0.925 to 0.940 g/cm and an MFR of from 1 to 10 g/10 min. Here, the weight ratio of resin (a) to resin (b) is from 30:70 to 70:30.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polyolefin resin composition for crosslinked foam that can suppress the distribution of crosslinking degree in the thickness direction of the foam body and can increase resistance to heat, fabricability and the like by formulating a specific polyfunctional monomer to a polyolefin resin. SOLUTION: To (A) a polyolefin resin preferably in an amount of 100 pts.wt., are formulated (B) a (meth)acrylic polyfunctional monomer bearing an aromatic, alicyclic or heterocyclic ring almost on the center in the chemical formula, preferably a di(meth)acrylate of the formula (R is H or CH3), preferably in an amount of 1-10 pts.wt., (C) a heat decomposition type chemical foaming agent, for example, azodicarbonamide or the like, preferably in an amount of 1-20 pts.wt. In a preferred embodiment, the component A comprises 30-90 wt.% of a polypropylene resin having a melt flow rate of 0.5-5 g/10 min, and 10-70 wt.% of a polyethylene resin having a melt flow rate of 1-20 g/10 minutes.
