Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a padding material improved in flattening and surface roughening during fabrication and having both cushioning properties and flexibility by mixing a polypropylene resin with an inorganic compound containing a specified element. CONSTITUTION:A padding material used for a vehicle interior furnishing, wherein the padding material comprises a foam of a composition comprising 100 pts.wt. mixture of 100-30wt.% polypropylene resin with 0-70wt.% polyethylene resin and 2-50 pts.wt. inorganic compound containing at least one element selected from among groups II, III and IV of the periodic table. Examples of the inorganic compounds which can be particularly desirably used include calcium carbonate, barium carbonate, titanium oxide and titanium silicate. It is desirable that the polyolefin resin is crosslinked by a means such as ionizing radiation crosslinking or chemical crosslinking before or during the foaming.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent yielding and surface roughening from occurring at forming process and, at the same time, improve the cushioning properties and flexibility of the material concerned by a method wherein padding material consists of the first specified polyolefin-based resin foam, onto which base material is laminated, and the second specified polyolefin-based resin foam, onto which skin material is laminated. CONSTITUTION:The interior material concerned is made of padding material 3 having the forming draw ratio of 0.40 or more produced by glueing together with the first polyolefin-based resin foam 3A whose gelling percentage is 2-75%, the expansion ratio is 200-1500% and the thickness is 0.1-6.0mm and onto which base material 2 is laminated, and the second polyolefin-based resin foam 3B, whose stress at 25% compression is 0.2kg/cm or more and onto which skin material 4 is laminated. As the polyolefin-based resin used for the first and the second polyolefin-based resin form, polyethylene resin, polypropylene-based resin and the like are exemplified. The base material 2 such as polyolefin-based resin having the melt index of about 1-60 is used. The skin material 4 such as polyvinyl chloride sheet, polyvinyl chloride/ABS mixed sheet or the like is used.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title foam which is excellent in flatness and moldability and can give a molding of excellent dimensional stability, by foaming, by heating, a laminated sheet formed by sticking a foamable sheet comprising a PVC resin, a plasticizer, a thermally decomposable chemical blowing agent, a crosslinking agent and a heat stabilizer with a nonfoamable skinning material. CONSTITUTION:A foamable sheet of a gel fraction of 0.5-15% is obtained by irradiating a foamable sheet comprising a PVC resin (A) (e.g., PVC of a degree of polymerization of 500-2,500), a plasticizer (B) (e.g., 7-13C phthalic ester), 2-8pts.wt., per 100pts.wt. total of A+B, thermally decomposable chemical blow ing agent (C) (e.g., azodicarbonamide), 0.5-10pts.wt., per 100pts.wt. component A, crosslinking agent (D) and 0.5-5pts.wt., on the same base, heat stabilizer (E) (e.g., Zn, Sn, Ba/Zn or Ba/Sn stabilizer) with, for example, an ionizing radia tion. A laminated sheet formed by sticking this sheet with a nonfoamable skinning material comprising (flexible) PVC or PP, or the like and having a thickness of 0.2-2.0mm is heated to foam it mainly in the direction of its thickness to a density of 0.08-0.5g/cm .

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title foam which can give a composite laminate excellent in adhesiveness and does not cause discoloration of its base, by molding and expanding a polyolefin resin containing a specified amount of a petroleum resin. CONSTITUTION:A polyolefin resin (A) (e.g., ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer) is mixed with at least 0.5wt.%, preferably, 5-25wt.% natural or synthetic petroleum resin (B) preferably having no polar groups (e.g., hydrogenated alicyclic petro leum resin based on a component of the formula), a blowing agent (e.g., azodicarbonamide) and, optionally, other additives (D). The obtained mixture is molded into a sheet of a uniform thickness and crosslinkages are introduced into this sheet. The resulting sheet is expanded by heating to a temperature higher than the decomposition temperature of component C to obtain the title foam having an apparent density of 0.500-0.020g/cc, a gel fraction of 5-70%, and a closed cell content >=70%. This foam is heat-bonded with, if necessary, a colored iron sheet to obtain a composite laminated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of adhesion to a roll as well as variability in the thicknes1s of the titled foam by a method wherein the sheet of the foam, consisting of thermoplastic resin, is worked by compression in a condition that the sheet is stretched to the size of 1.05-1.5 times. CONSTITUTION:In case the compression work of the sheet of termoplastic resin foam, heated to a temperature near the softening point thereof, is effected by employing a cooling roll, the compression work is effected in a condition that the sheet is stretched by about 1.05-1.5 times the foam before the compression work. The thermoplastic resin foam is preferable to be the copolymer of polyethylene and ethylene-vinyl acetate which is provided with the magnification of foaming of about 3-40 times and the thickness of about 0.5-3.0mm. On the other hand, the cooling roll having recessed and protruded structure having preferably 50-500 mesh, is employed for this purpose. When the compression work is effected under being stretched, bubbles becomes flat and the foam may be modified to the soft foam.
