Abstract: A melt-resistant synthetic fiber is produced by adhering to said fiber a mixed aqueous solution of a melamine derivative compound and an acidic catalyst, and thereafter heat-treating in the presence of moisture, whereby the surface of said synthetic fiber is covered with a heat-resistant film.
