Abstract:
A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A POLYPHENYLENE SULFIDE RESIN WITH PROPERTIES OF (1) 0.3 WT% OR LESS IN THE AMOUNT OF THE VOLATILE GAS GENERATED WHEN HEATED AND MELTED AT 320°C IN VACUUM FOR 2 HOURS, (2) 0.3 WT% OR LESS IN THE ASH CONTENT ACHIEVED WHEN INCINERATED AT 550°C, (3) 4.0 WT% OR LESS IN THE RESIDUE AMOUNT ACHIEVED WHEN A SOLUTION WITH 1 PART BY WEIGHT OF THE POLYPHENYLENE SULFIDE RESIN DISSOLVED IN 20 PARTS BY WEIGHT OF 1-CHLORONAPHTHALENE IS PRESSURE-FILTERED BY A PTFE MEMBRANE FILTER WITH A PORE SIZE OF 1 µM AT 250°C FOR 5 MINUTES, AND (4) HIGHER THAN 500 G/10 MIN IN MELT FLOW RATE (ACCORDING TO ASTM D-1238-70: MEASURED AT A TEMPERATURE OF 315.5°C AND AT A LOAD OF 5000 G), BY ACID-TREATING A POLYPHENYLENE SULFIDE RESIN IN AN ACID TREATMENT STEP AND SUBSEQUENTLY TREATING IT FOR THERMAL OXIDATION, IN A THERMAL OXIDATION STEP, WHEREIN IN THE ACID TREATMENT STEP, THE POLYPHENYLENE SULFIDE RESIN IS IMMERSED IN AN ACID OR AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION OF THE ACID FOR TREATMENT AT PH 2 TO 8 AND 80 TO 200 ᵒC . THIS PROCESS CAN PROVIDE A POLYPHENYLENE SULFIDE RESIN EXCELLENT IN MELT FLOWABILITY, SMALL IN METAL CONTENT AND IN THE AMOUNT OF THE VOLATILE COMPONENT GENERATED DURING MELTING AND EXCELLENT IN MOLDING STABILITY AND WET HEAT RESISTANCE.
Abstract:
To provide a polyarylene sulfide resin composition including: (A) a polyarylene sulfide resin having a carboxyl group content of more than 100 µmol/g and less than 400 µmol/g, and also having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 or more and less than 100,000; and (B) a filler. The present invention provides a polyarylene sulfide resin composition having improved mechanical properties and chemical resistance while maintaining intrinsic high melting point of a polyarylene sulfide.
Abstract:
An object of the invention is to provide a polyphenylene sulfide resin composition having excellent heat resistance, flowability and lightweight property as well as surface smoothness and impact resistance. There is provided a polyphenylene sulfide resin composition, comprising: 1 to 30 parts by weight of a mica (b) having an aspect ratio of not less than 80, relative to 100 parts by weight of a polyphenylene sulfide resin (a).
Abstract:
A polyphenylene sulfide resin composition which comprises: 100 parts by weight of a resin composition comprising (a) 99-60 wt.% polyphenylene sulfide resin and (b) 1-40 wt.% at least one noncrystalline resin selected among polyetherimide resins and polyether sulfone resins, the sum of (a) and (b) being 100 wt.%; and 0.1-10 parts by weight of (C) a compound incorporated therein which has one or more groups selected among epoxy, amino, and isocyanate groups. The polyphenylene sulfide resin composition is characterized by having a morphology in which the noncrystalline resin (b) forms an island phase and the noncrystalline resin (b) has a number-average dispersed-particle diameter of 1,000 nm or smaller. This composition has highly excellent toughness, less generates a gas upon thermal melting, and has excellent processability.
Abstract:
An object of the invention is to provide a PPS resin composition having excellent heat resistance and excellent electrical properties without damaging excellent physical properties including mechanical properties and low gas generation which PPS intrinsically has. There is provided a resin composition comprising (a) a polyphenylene sulfide resin and (b) one or more copolymers selected among a tetrafluoroethylene/ hexafluoropropylene copolymer, an ethylene/ tetrafluoroethylene copolymer and a tetrafluoroethylene/ perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether) copolymer. In the resin composition, (a) the polyphenylene sulfide resin forms a continuous phase, (b) one copolymer selected among the above components forms primary dispersed phases, and the primary dispersed phase includes secondary dispersed phases formed by a component different from the component of the primary dispersed phase.
