    Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate defective feeding to a cutter and to chip readily extrudate of melted polymer, by extruding molten polymer successively from the die having many nozzles and leading it to the cutter. CONSTITUTION:In the process wherein strands are led to cutter 9-12 and made into chips after molten polymer is extruded to form the strands successively from a die 3 having many nozzles 4, the opening speed A of the plate 15 closing the front of the die is adjusted so as the ratio of the proceeding speed of the cooled strands B to the opening speed A (B/A) is adjusted to 2-7 and the time of extrusion commencement from each nozzle 4 is successively put back. Thus, the tip parts 2 of the extruded strands are fixed in a successively shifted state and led to the cutter 9-12.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain chips with little dispersion of desired shapes and dimensions, free from mutual cohesion, by making the crystallinity of a block copolymer strand a specific value while cooling and conveying the strand with grooved belts and flat belts in a cooling tank. CONSTITUTION:A molten block copolymer consisting of polytetramethylene terephthalate and poly-tetramethylene glycol components as main structural units is extruded from a die opening into a strand, which is conveyed at a speed of 20- 80 m/min while being separated respectively and cooled with a pair of grooved belts set in a cooling tank, then conveyed at a speed of 40-130 m/min while being held by a pair of flat belts and cooled in the same tank. The speed of the flat belts is 1.5-3.0 times that of the grooved belts to crystallize and draw the strands moderately, thus giving the crystallinity of 5-60%, preferably 10-40%. The cooled strand is then dehydrated and cut.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce loss in resources and load in waste water disposal stage, by vaporizing tetrahydrofuran in waste water discharged from steam ejectors in a polyester condensation reaction. CONSTITUTION:A polycondensation reaction apparatus for polyester produced by using butanediol-1,4 as a component of starting materials, is kept at a predetermined degree of vacuum by steam ejectors 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 driven by steam 1. Steam drain, cooling water, tetrahydrofuran, etc. are condensed by condensers 7, 8 and discharged as waste water to a hot well 11. The temperature of waste water within the hot wall 11 is kept at 64-98 deg.C to vaporize tetrahydrofuran having a b.p. of 64-65 deg.C. The vaporized tetrahydrofuran is supplied through a vent pipe 14 to a condenser 15 where tetrahydrofuran is condensed. Tetrahydrofuran is once stored in a reservoir 16, and then fed to a tetrahydrofuran purifier.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the smooth suction of oligomers from a polmerization reactor, by furnishing the reactor with a device for collecting the oligomer comprising a plurality of collection bars, between the condenser of the distillate and a vacuum pump. CONSTITUTION:Distillates discharged from a polymerization reactor I are introduced into a condenser 3 through a pipe 2, and condensed. Oligomers which are not condensed in the condenser 3 and passed through a suction pipe 6, are collected with bar collectors 8 to prevent entering into the vacuum pump 9. The oligomers collected with the collector are washed with washing liquid jetted through nozzles 10, and discharged through a pipe 11. In the collector 8, the oligomer collides with the first-stage collecting bars 15a, and the component which is not collected is collected with the second to the forth collecting bars 15b-15d. The diameter of the collecting bar is pref. 0.2-0.3mm.
