Abstract: A nucleic acid detection method comprising: step a) for mixing a solution containing a carboxylic acid and/or a salt thereof, a cerium oxide carrier and a nucleic acid-containing sample so as to allow the cerium oxide carrier to adsorb the nucleic acid; step b) for separating the cerium oxide carrier, which carries the nucleic acid adsorbed thereon, from the mixture obtained in step a); step c) for adding an eluent to the the cerium oxide carrier, which carries the nucleic acid adsorbed thereon, separated in step b) and thus collecting the nucleic acid; and step d) for detecting the nucleic acid collected in step c) by a hybridization reaction or a nucleic acid amplification reaction.

Abstract: A method for collecting a nucleic acid from a biological sample, said method being characterized by comprising the following steps: (a) mixing a carrier that comprises cerium oxide and a water-soluble neutral polymer adsorbed on the surface of cerium oxide with a solution containing the nucleic acid to cause the nucleic acid to be adsorbed on the carrier; (b) separating the carrier having the nucleic acid adsorbed thereon from the solution which has been mixed in step (a); and (c) adding an eluent to the carrier having the nucleic acid adsorbed thereon, which has been separated in step (b), to collect the nucleic acid.

Abstract: The present invention is an ethanol production method including: an ethanol continuous fermentation step for cultivating microorganisms with a fermentation raw material containing cane molasses as the main component, collecting an ethanol-containing filtrate with the microorganisms separated by filtering a culture medium with a separation membrane, and further holding or refluxing an unfiltered liquid containing the microorganisms in the culture medium and adding the fermentation raw material to the culture medium; and a step for concentrating and refining ethanol by distilling the ethanol-containing filtrate collected in the continuous fermentation step, wherein the microorganisms contain particles having an average particle size of 100 nm or greater in a centrifugal supernatant of the culture medium, and the average particle size of the particles formed by cultivation of the microorganisms included in the ethanol-containing filtrate is 40-80 nm, or the ethanol fermentation liquid includes particles having an average particle size of 40-80 nm as particles other than the microorganisms formed by microorganism cultivation and does not include components at the time of hydrothermal treatment of bagasse. With the present invention it is possible to purify by distillation an ethanol fermentation liquid without adding a defoaming agent.
