Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of a mass from cut fibers and increase the cutting speed, by specifying the thickness of a fiber bundle in the width direction with a guide, winding the fiber bundle around the tips of a force-cutter, and cutting the fiber bundle. CONSTITUTION:A fiber bundle 1 is led with a guide 2, and the resultant fiber bundle 3 is wound around the tips of knives 5 inserted radially in a drum 4 of a force-cutter at a desired interval, and cut by the compression with a pressing roller 6 to give cut fibers 7, 7' and 7''. In the process, the fiber bundle 1 is kept in such a form as to give the thickness (A) (mm.) of the fed fiber bundle 3 on the discharging side of the force-cutter smaller than thickness (B) (mm.) of the fed fiber bundle 3 on the nondischarging side of the cut fibers 7,7' and 7'' by the guide 2, and the fiber bundle is then wound around the tips of the knives 5.
