Abstract: Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing e-caprolactam from 3-oxoadipic acid, which is suitable as a biomass resource. The method for producing e-caprolactam includes a step 1 for mixing at least one selected from the group comprising 3-oxoadipic acid and salts thereof with a catalyst and a solvent in the presence of hydrogen and generating 3-hydroxyadipic acid, and a step 2 for reacting the 3-hydroxyadipic acid, salt thereof, carboxylic acid derivative thereof, or mixture of these that is the product of step 1 with hydrogen and ammonia.

Abstract: A method for producing butadiene from 2,3-butanediol with high selectivity without using a radioactive substance is disclosed. The method for producing butadiene comprises the step of dehydrating 2,3-butanediol in the presence of a catalyst containing an alkali metal salt of phosphoric acid such as an alkali metal dihydrogen phosphate supported on silica. Preferred examples of the alkali metal herein include K, Rb, and Cs.
