Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thermoplastic resin composition having excellent impact resistance, chemical resistance, heat-resistance, etc., by compounding a thermoplastic polyester resin with specific amounts of a specific graft copolymer, a modified vinyl polymer, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by compounding (A) 10-80wt.% of a thermoplastic polyester resin (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate), (B) 5-60wt.% of a graft copolymer produced by the copolymerization of an aromatic vinyl monomer, etc., in the presence of a rubbery polymer, (C) 1-50wt.% of a modified vinyl polymer containing one or more kinds of functional groups selected from epoxy group, carboxyl group, etc., (D) 5-55wt.% of a maleimide copolymer and (E) 0-45wt.% of a vinyl copolymer produced by copolymerizing an aromatic vinyl monomer, a vinyl cyanide monomer, etc. The amounts of the above components are selected to give the objective composition having a rubbery polymer content of 1-45wt.%.

CONSTITUTION:An unsaturated nitrile monomer (ii) and an aromatic vinyl monomer (iii) are graft-polymerized in the presence of a rubbery polymer (i) for reinforcing a resin of obtain a graft polymer, which is mixed with a copolymer of component (ii) with component (iii) to obtain an ABS resin wherein the mean particle diameter of component (i) is 0.2-0.5mum, and the particle diameter distribution is such that the contact of particles of a particle diameter of 0.1mum or below is 4wt.% or below, the content of particles of a particle diameter of 1.0mum or above is 2wt.% or below, and the content of particles of a particle diameter of 0.2-0.3mum is 60wt.% or above. The obtained ABS resin is colored with a liquid color and molded to obtain the title furnishings.
