Abstract: PURPOSE:To regenerate oxygen pump electrodes by repeatedly and quickly dropping the DC voltage to be impressed to the oxygen pump electrode or repeatedly changing over the polarities thereof. CONSTITUTION:A carrier gas is passed in a cylinder 20 made of a solid electrolyte of the oxygen pump 8 from one end toward the other end via a sample introducing means by the effect of a circulation pump and is returned to the circulation pump. Porous electrodes 22, 23 are provided to the inside and outside of the cylinder 20 and the specified voltage is impressed thereto by a DC power source 28. A current rectifying cylinder 21 is put in the electrolyte 20. The DC voltage is quickly dropped in order to regenerate the electrodes 22, 23. Then the oxygen partial pressure at the boundary face between the inside electrode 22 and the electrolyte 20 increases sharply and the foreign matter sticking to the electrode 22 is removed; in addition, the grown crystal grains are disintegrated and the electrode 22 is regenerated. The outside electrode 23 is similarly regenerated when the voltage is increased to the original value in order to make the next drop.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To maintain the oxygen discharging capacity of an oxygen pump at a high level while reducing the oxygen discharge load, by providing a filter between a sample introduction means and the oxygen pump in the direction of circulating a carrier gas. CONSTITUTION:A sample introduction means 7 for introducing a sample into a closed gas passage 1, an electrochemical oxygen pump 8 employing a solid electrolyte for discharging oxygen therein 1 and a circulation pump 5 for circulating a carrier gas through the passage are arranged in series to build an analyzer. A filter 19 is provided between the means 7 and the pump 8 in the direction of circulating the carrier gas. Steam and dust being carried on the carrier gas are trapped with the filter 19 so that an electrode surface of the pump 8 is kept in a specified porous shape to maintain an oxygen discharging capacity. At the position of the pump 8, released oxygen passes being diffused evenly in the carrier gas, therefore reducing a load per hour of the pump 8.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To lower the melting temp. of a sample and to reduce the cost and size of a sample melting furnace by preliminarily melting a material for forming an alloy with the sample in the sample melting furnace. CONSTITUTION:A carrier gas in a closed gas flow passage 1 is circulated by a circulation pump 5 in an arrow A direction so as to flow through a sample melting pipe 18 of the sample melting furnace 8 to an oxygen pump 9. An electrochemical oxygen pump 9 for which a solid electrolyte is used measures the quantity of oxygen in the carrier gas by discharging the oxygen in the carrier gas to the outside of the passage 1. A metal 21 which can form the alloy with the sample 6 is preliminarily melted in the sample melting part 17 of the sample melting furnace 8. Then the sample 6 and the molten metal 21 forms the alloy when the sample 6 is dropped into the melting part 17. The alloy is melted at the temp. lower than the temp. in the case of the sample 6 alone and the gaseous oxygen in the sample 6 is released into the carrier gas. The quantity of the oxygen in the high melting metal is thus analyzed even if a special melting furnace is not used.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To know the oxidation or reduction reaction condition under certain conditions or the physicochemical characteristics such as activity by gradually and continuously changing the oxygen partial pressure of the carrier gas in a closed gas flow passage so that the reaction rate of the oxidation and reduction of a sample is changed. CONSTITUTION:The sample is introduced from a sample introducing means 7 into the closed gas flow passage 1 for circulating the carrier gas so that the sample and the carrier gas are brought into reaction in a sample reaction furnace 16. An electro chemical oxygen pump 8 for which a solid electrolyte is used is connected with a DC power source 20 for impressing as DC voltage to the solid electrolyte from the inside and outside surfaces thereof. The oxygen partial pressure of the carrier gas is changed by gradually and continuously changing the DC voltage to be applied to the solid electrolyte 19 of the pump 8, then the oxidation or reduction reaction of the sample changes correspondingly. The oxygen partial pressure in the flow passage 1 is changed by such reaction and the current flowing in the pump 8 changes. In which stage of the continuously changing oxygen partial pressure the oxidation or reduction of the sample begins or the progressing condition thereof is known if such current is read.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To quickly measure the absolute value with high accuracy even if the oxygen released from a sample is slight by subjecting the heating temp. of a sample reaction furnace to program control and detecting the amt. of the oxygen when the sample is reduced or oxidized as quantity of electricity by an oxygen pump. CONSTITUTION:The sample is introduced from a sample introducing means 7 into a closed gas flow passage 1 for circulating a carrier gas and the sample is brought into reaction with the carrier gas in the sample reaction furnace 8. The electrochemical oxygen pump 9 for which a solid electrolyte is used discharges the oxygen in the flow passage 1 to the outside of the flow passage or introduces the oxygen from the outside of the flow passage into the passage 1. The temp. of the reaction furnace is subjected to the program control so that the temp. is increased at a specified rate or the temp. increase and decrease are periodically repeated according to the purpose of analysis. The oxygen is released in this state from the sample into the passage 1 or the oxyetn is taken from the outside of the flow passage into the passage 1, by which the sample is reduced or oxidized. The amt. of the oxygen corresponding to the reductin or oxidation in this stage is detected as the quantity of electricity by the oxygen pump 9.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of oxygen measurement by providing filters respectively between a sample introducing means and oxygen pump and between the oxygen pump and circulation pump with regard to the circulating direction of a carrier gas. CONSTITUTION:The carrier gas and the oxygen released from a sample 6 fed together with the carrier gas are randomly mixed by a filter 19 provided on the upper stream side of the oxygen pump 8. The pulsation generated up to the inlet of the filter is consequently absorbed by the passage of the filter and is fed to the oxygen pump 8. The pulsation flowed by the suction pulsation of the circulation pump 5 is generated on the down stream side of the pump 8 as well but is absorbed by the filter 20 provided on the down stream side of the pump 8 and is prevented from being propagated to the pump 8. The pulsation of the flow in the pump 8 is thus suppressed from both the upper stream side and the down stream side and therefore, the pulsation of the current of the pump 8 is prevented. The accuracy of the oxygen measurement is thereby improved.
