Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wastewater treatment method in a polyester production process capable of chemically treating acetaldehyde to convert the same to other compound to reduce the content of acetaldehyde in wastewater and capable of preventing the diffusion of acetaldehyde to the atmosphere. SOLUTION: An alkali compound is added to wastewater containing 10-3,000 ppm of acetaldehyde generated as a by-product in a polyester production process to reduce the content of acetaldehyde in wastewater.
