Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which uses a low-cost sealing material and can retain a stable and high airtightness even if using the minimum necessary amount of the sealing material, prevents warping of sealing and stress destruction of the substrate, and can maintain a high display performance throughout a long period. SOLUTION: The image display device is provided with a housing having a front substrate 11 and a rear substrate 12 arranged oppositely and a sealing part 13 which mutually seals the peripheral portions of the front substrate and the rear substrate. The sealing part has a frame 30 which extends along the peripheral portions of the front substrate and the rear substrate and is formed of a metal and sealing materials 32a, 32b which are installed between the frame and the front substrate and the frame and the rear substrate. The frame has a first surface region 36a which is opposed to the front substrate and the rear substrate and has a high affinity to the sealing material, and a second surface region 30c which is positioned between the front substrate and the rear substrate and has a lower affinity to the sealing material than the first surface region. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode-ray tube having an improved picture quality by suppressing deterioration in the color purity without involving an increase in the cost. SOLUTION: The color cathode-ray tube comprises, a panel 1 whose external surface is almost flat, a phosphor screen 6 which is formed on an inner surface of the panel 1, and a shadow mask 14 which is disposed opposite to the phosphor screen 6. The panel 1 has an axis extending horizontally which crosses a tube axis perpendicularly and an axis extending vertically which crosses the tube axis and the horizontal axis perpendicularly. And TD =6 deg.C are satisfied, wherein TC, TV, TH and TD are temperatures, during operation of the tube, at the central part, end part of the vertical axis, end part of the horizontal axis and end part of the diagonal axis, respectively, of the panel surface.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce landing drift by making the spring pressure at a first bent portion greater than that at a second bent portion of an elastic support member. SOLUTION: An elastic support member 17 is a plate spring of a generally constant width, a first bent portion P1 on the mask frame side, and a second bent portion P2 on the panel pin side. A triangular opening 31, with its width gradually widening from the bent portion P1 toward the bent portion P2, is formed in a slope portion 17c between the bent portions P1 and P2. Therefore, spring pressure gradually decreases from the bent portion P1 toward the bent portion P2. By the way, the landing drift in the prior art structure in which no opening 31 is formed in the elastic support member is about 20 micrometers. In contrast, with the provision of the opening 31, in the case of A=19mm and B+C=10mm for example, the landing drift is improved to 5 micrometers.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a color picture tube having excellent landing characteristics by reducing influence on an electron beam by an external magnetic field such as earth magnetism. CONSTITUTION: In a rectangular cross-sectional hollow magnetic shielding body, a depth d1 of a notch part 49a of a long edge part 44 is made deeper than a depth d2 of a notch part 49b of a short edge part 46. A projecting part 48 is arranged on the center axis 45 of the long edge part 44. Therefore, an external magnetic field in a diagonal end part 43 is prevented from being excessively guided to the long edge part 44, and the external magnetic field is guided so as to approach in parallel to an electron beam, and influence of the external magnetic field can be reduced. An external magnetic field entering from the notch part in the vicinity of the central axis of the long edge part 44 is induced to the projecting part 48, and influence of the external magnetic field can be reduced without impairing a inducing effect of the diagonal end part 43.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent degradation of color purity as a result of thermal expansion of a color picture tube in which a shadow mask is held on a fame while tension is applied thereto. CONSTITUTION: A frame 10 holding the shadow mask of a color picture tube under tension comprises a pair of mask fixing parts 11, 12, to which the sides of the shadow mask parallel to the X-axis are secured, and support members 13, 14 each provided between the opposite ends of the mask fixing part and made of an elastic material curved to project toward the phosphor screen, with a holder 15 secured to the center portion between the support members 13, 14. When thermal expansion of the shadow mask occurs, the distance between the mask fixing parts 11, 12 increases and the curve of each support member 11, 12 is reduced, but the center portion 18a between the support members 11, 12 is not deflected, so the shadow mask moves toward the phosphor screen and degradation of color purity can be prevented.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent color purity deterioration caused by the revolution of a shadow mask structure due to thermal expansion. SOLUTION: When displayed at high brightness, a shadow mask structure generates right-hand revolution 30 due to thermal expansion. A position of a fixed point on a side between a shadow mask 7 and a mask frame 8 is shifted in a direction of left-hand revolution from a horizontal axis 13 and a vertical axis 14. Therefore, when based on the fixing point of the shadow mask and the frame, a difference in thermal expansion of the frame is generated on its left and right. As a result, a left-hand revolution 31 of the shadow mask 7 is generated with respect to the mask frame 8. Thereby, the two revolutions offset each other, and color purity deterioration caused by the revolution of the shadow mask structure due to thermal expansion is suppressed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode ray tube which can correct both color purity deterioration caused by a temperature change of a shadow mask and color purity deterioration caused by a temperature change of an environment. SOLUTION: A holder 30 has a holder main unit 31 and a bimetal part 40. The holder main unit 31, by bending a metal plate in a direction opposite to each other along a first/second bending line 33a, 33b, is constituted by having an engaging part 35 engaging a stud pin, fixed part 34 and a tilt part 36 tilted to extend between the engaging part and the fixed part, and in the case of thermally expanding a mask frame, it is displaced in a direction made adjacent to a fluorescent material screen along the center axial line of a face panel. The bimetal part is arranged between the fixed part of the holder main unit and the mask frame, constituted by fixing together a first/second metal plate of different coefficient of thermal expansion, and, in the case of heating, the mask frame is displaced in a direction separating from the fluorescent material screen.
