    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube capable of displaying a high-luminance and high-precision image.
    SOLUTION: An electron gun structure 7 has an electron beam generation part for generating three electron beams arranged on a line. The electron beam generation part is composed of cathodes K (R, G and B), a first grid G1 and a second grid G2. The first grid G1 comprises three segments corresponding to the three cathodes for respectively generating the electron beams. A first image signal is applied to each cathode, and a second image signal modulated by synchronizing with the first image signal applied to the corresponding cathode is applied to each segment. The electron gun structure is characterized in that the amount of the electron beam generated from the electron beam generation part is controlled by varying the value of (the amplitude of the second image signal)/(the amplitude of the first image signal).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode-ray tube having an improved picture quality by suppressing deterioration in the color purity without involving an increase in the cost. SOLUTION: The color cathode-ray tube comprises, a panel 1 whose external surface is almost flat, a phosphor screen 6 which is formed on an inner surface of the panel 1, and a shadow mask 14 which is disposed opposite to the phosphor screen 6. The panel 1 has an axis extending horizontally which crosses a tube axis perpendicularly and an axis extending vertically which crosses the tube axis and the horizontal axis perpendicularly. And TD =6 deg.C are satisfied, wherein TC, TV, TH and TD are temperatures, during operation of the tube, at the central part, end part of the vertical axis, end part of the horizontal axis and end part of the diagonal axis, respectively, of the panel surface.

Electron beam passing holes G2 (G2r, G2g, and G2b) are formed on the thin plates 102. Side walls 112 (112R, 112G, and 112B) connecting a plate-shaped electrode surface of the second grid G2 to the thin plates 102 are formed so that angles θ1 formed with the thin plates 102 are greater than 900. More preferably, the angles θ1 are set to be not less than 105° and not greater than 140°.

A pair of side beam passing holes eccentric in the arrangement direction to a pair of side beam passing holes of the other electrodes, are formed in either one of opposed surfaces of the intermediate electrode GM2 and the sixth grid G6. Thereby, an excellent quality image can be displayed over the whole image screen area by a color picture tube.

CONSTITUTION:A cathode-ray tube is provided with an electron gun 21 having a main electron lens wherein three electron beams in line arrangement are converged on a phosphor screen 1, an electric resistor arranged in a cathode ray tube, and a deflection device 8. The main electron lens is at least composed of a first electron lens and a second electron lens formed nearer to a phosphor screen than the first lens. The first electron lens is formed of a first electrode G6, wherein voltage varied in synchronization with the deflection quantity of an electron beam is supplied from outside the tube, and at least a second electrode G5 to which the voltage is supplied via the electric resistor, and fluctuating voltage is divided by electrostatic capacitance between the first and second electrodes to be overlapped with the voltage at the second electrode. When the electron beam is not deflected by a deflection device, the first and second electrodes have nearly the same voltage, and a potential difference is produced according to the deflection of an electron beam, between the first and second electrodes to operate the second electron lens.

A 4-pole lens, wherein relating to a diameter in a direction at a right angle to a direction of arranging three electron beams of the large hole 30 in the electrode G3, the diameter of the small hole 31 is small in the same direction to permeate potential largely through the large hole 30 in the inside of the electrode G3 and to substantially individually act relating to the three electron beams with potential of permeating the inside of the electrode G4, can be formed.
