    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head mount display device which is good in light utilization efficiency and may be easily manufactured. SOLUTION: The head mount display device 1 has a display system 2 for image formation and an optical system 3 for image enlargement. The display system 2 has a white back light 4 for irradiation with white light and a transmission type liquid crystal display panel 5 allowing the transmission of the white light from this white back light 4 is disposed on the front side of the white back light. The device has a color shutter 6 in front of the transmission type liquid crystal display panel 5. The color shutter 6 has a color polarizing film 11 formed by laminating many sheets of phase difference films, a liquid crystal cell 12 composed of a film cell, a neutral polarizing film 13, a liquid crystal cell 14 composed of a film cell, a dyestuff base color polarizing film 15 formed by impregnating a high polymer with dichromatic dyestuffs and orienting the same and a color polarizing film 16 formed by laminating many sheets of phase difference films. The optical system 3 having a half mirror 17 and a concave reflection mirror 18 is disposed in front of the display system 2 to enlarge the image from the display system 2.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color display device showing a bright image with improved luminance and improved definition. SOLUTION: In an achromatic polarizing plate 2, an undesirable polarized light component suffers multiple reflection on the phosphor face of an FED1 and light polarization disappears. A desired polarized light component as part of the light which is reflected and retroreflectively enters the achromatic polarizing plate 2 is transmitted while the rest of undesirable polarized light is reflected again. By the repetition of the process, the amount of transmitted light increases to improve the luminance. By controlling the gap between the achromatic polarizing plate 2 and the phosphor screen of the inner glass of the FED 1 to 0.7 mm, a clear image can be obtained even for small characters with almost no influences of blurring even when the image contains a picture and characters.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Bridgman-type single crystal growing apparatus capable of constantly and stably performing the growth of a single crystal. SOLUTION: This Bridgman-type single crystal growing apparatus is provided with a vertical hallow furnace-core tube 11 and a single crystal growing zone 12 directed in a direction within a prescribed range relative to the axial direction of the furnace-core tube 11 and heated at controlled pattern to give a steep temperature gradient to melt a single crystal raw material 15. A crucible 14 holding the single crystal raw material 15 is passed through the single crystal growing zone 12 to melt the single crystal raw material 15 and effect the growth of a single crystal. In the above apparatus, an annealing heating zone for receiving a polycrystalline material grown in the single crystal growing zone 12, heating the polycrystalline material at a prescribed temperature for a prescribed period and slowly cooling the heat-treated product.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously realize higher image quality, larger screen size and smaller thickness, by forming light emitting pixels near display element boundaries in positions corresponding to the thickness of a transparent display plate. SOLUTION: A unit display 1 is formed by arranging plural phosphor pixels 22aa to 22jj of nearly a square shape in a matrix form as the light emitting pixels on the inside surface of front surface glass 21 having a flat surface. The light emitted from the phosphor pixels 22aa to 22jj of the large-sized flat display arranging plural unit displays 1 in a matrix form is released without scattering at the boundaries with the adjacent glass up to nearly about 45 deg. from forward within the front glass surface glass 21. At the time of forming the large-sized screen in such a manner, the phosphor pixels 22aa, 22ab, 22ba, 22aj, etc., at the peripheral edges are formed in the positions on the side inner by the distances nearly equal to the thickness of the front surface glass 21 from the boundary between the unit displays 1. As a result, higher image quality equal to the image quality of the case where one sheet of the seamless glass is used can be obtd.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To realize a thermal head for precise printing and good gradational reprtesentation by using insulating substrate whereon AlN-Al2O3 base thin film is formed on a glass substrate. CONSTITUTION:An AlN-Al2O3 mixed base thin film layer 12 is formed using a sputtering device on a glass substrate 11. The film thickness of this AlN-Al2O3 mixed base thin film is specified to exceed about 0.5mum for improving the lateral directional diffusion of the heat generated by a thin film heat generating resistor main body 13. Besides, the composition of this AlN-Al2O3 mixed base thin film 12 is specified to be wider within the range of about 0.2-0.7 of AlN in the mol ratio. Next, a thin film heat generating resistor layer 13, an electric conductive layer 14, a protective layer 15 are successively formed on the insulating substrate 11 whereon the thin film layer 12 is formed. Through these procedures, the thermal head capable of ultrafine printing to be realized by using the glass substrate.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a good luminous edge free from a drop in irradiation luminous energy, irradiation light scattering or the like by etching a luminous layer from the light emission end thereof. CONSTITUTION:A lower electrode 21 comprising two layers of Cr and Au is provided on a glass substrate 11 and, then, a dielectric layer 51 of SiOn and a luminous layer comprising Mn doped ZnS are sequentially formed thereon. In this case, the film of each layer is continuously formed in a sputtering device. Then, an element is separated by means of a reactive ion etching method and at the same time, a luminous edge 71 is formed. Thereafter, an ion milling method is used and another luminous edge 81 is formed on the substrate 11 from the light irradiation end thereof. In this case, the ion milling is applied at an incident angle of 10 degrees to a direction parallel to the principal plane of the substrate 11. According to this construction, a luminous edge when formed is free from the deposition of an etched material. Also, an etched material even if deposited can be sufficiently removed and a luminous edge having high quality surface can be provided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a large display area in comparison with the area of the base plate by providing a driving circuit on a main surface faced to the main surface of the base plate where the display area is formed. CONSTITUTION:A signal line 21 and a scanning line 31 are arranged in the shape of a matrix on a main surface 13 of an insulated board 11 of a base plate 1 for display device, a thin film transistor 41a is arranged at the intersection part, and a display area 201 is composed of the group of picture element electrodes 51. The signal line 21 and the scanning line 31 are extended through connecting parts 14 and 16 provided on the end face of the insulated board 11 to a main surface 15 faced to the main surface 13. A signal line driving circuit 121 and a scanning line driving circuit 131 are provided on the peripheral part of the main surface 15. Namely, by installing the driving circuits 121 and 131 on the main surface 15 faced to the main surface 13, the area of the base plate 1 for display device can be reduced in comparison with the conventional area, and the base plate 1 with the integrated driving circuits can be provided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a highly reliable moisture sensor by making a copolymer layer of poly methylglutaminate and polyurethane hard near a melting temperature on an inorganic insulating substrate to laminate the same copolymer layers in such a manner that they can be hardened by heat. CONSTITUTION:SiO2 and SiN3 are laminated on an Si substrate 1 by a CVD method. A copolymer of poly methylglutaminate and polyurethane is diluted by demethylformamide DMF and applied on the substrate in rotation and hardened near a melting point to form a ground layer 4. Then, an Au electrode 5 is deposited on the layer and the same copolymer is diluted to 50% by volume by DMF and applied on the electrode 5 to form a moisture sensitive film 6 by drying at 80 deg.C. An Au electrode 7 is deposited on the film 6. The work is separated into elements with a dicer. The moisture sensor thus obtained provides a higher response speed and a smaller hysteresis and allows combination with an Si element in a process. It also has a long-time reliability with a better adhesion to the substrate.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a large signal by forming a pressure introducing port for a cavity part at a surface which is different from a surface on which a facing electrode plate is formed. CONSTITUTION:An electrode plate 42 is formed at a diaphragm part. A groove 61 for introducing pressure is formed at a side wall where the electrode plate is not formed in parallel with the electrode plate. The diaphragm of an upper Si part and a lower base are stuck so that the respective electrodes face each other with a slight distance and the groove for introducing pressure is communi cated to a pressure introducing port 21. The diaphragm and the lower base face through a cavity. The pressure introducing groove and the pressure introduc ing port 21 are communicated, and a cavity 71 and a pressure introducing port 91 for the cavity part are formed. On the Si diaphragm, a pressure Pa is applied, and a pressure Pb through the pressure introducing port, the pressure introducing groove and the pressure introducing port for the cavity part is also applied. The changing quantity of the capacitance C between both electrode plates which are changed with said pressures is detected as a pressure signal. There fore, the area of the electrode plate 42 becomes wide, and the large output signal is obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance durability by preventing the heat shock destruction of a protective layer at the time of high speed printing by a method wherein the constitutional material of the protective layer formed on a heat generating resistor consists of two kinds of materials and the component ratio of two kinds of materials is changed over three layers upwardly from the surface of a resistor. CONSTITUTION:A glaze layer 2 is formed on a ceramic substrate 1 and a heat generating resistor layer 3, an electric conductor layer 4 and protective layers 5-1, 5-2, 5-3 are successively laminated on the glaze layer 2. When the materials constituting the protective layers are Al2O3 and SiO2, each of the layers is set to a thickness of 5,000Angstrom or more and the composition ratios of the respective layers are set so that the first layer 5-1 in contact with the resistor layer consists of 10-30mol% of Al2O3 and 90-70mol% of SiO2, the intermediate layer 5-2 consists of 40-60mol% of Al2O3 and 60-40mol% of SiO2 and the uppermost layer 5-3 consists of 70-90mol% of Al2O3 and 30-10mol% of SiO2. By this method, the protective layers are not destructed by a heat shock even when high speed printing is performed and the life of a thermal head can be extended.
