    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain an electrode from acting on an SiC board so as to lessen a leakage current by a method, where the electrode is formed of an element such as iron, ruthenium, osmium, iridium, or rhodium or alloy of two or more metals selected from among them. SOLUTION: An N-type SiC layer 2 is grown epitaxially on an N-conductivity type SiC board 1, the SiC board 1 is cleaned, and then Fe is evaporated as a Schottky electrode 4 on the epitaxial layer 2 on the SiC board 1. Ni is evaporated as an ohmic electrode 3 on the rear of the SiC board 1. An Fe electrode is formed through a patterning process. Ruthenium, osmium, iridium, or rhodium may also be used in place of iron. As a result, an electrode is made hardly reacting with SiC, and a leakage current can be restrained from increasing.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the heat shock destruction of a protective layer in high speed printing to enhance durability by a method wherein the protective layer is constituted of two layers and the layer in contact with a heat generating resistor is formed using a high toughness material while the protective layer formed on the upper side is formed from a composition wherein at least one kind of a specific high hardness material and the high toughness material are mixed with each other. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal head, a glaze layer 2 is formed on a ceramic substrate 1 and a heat generating resistor layer 3, an electric conductor layer 4 and protective layers 5-1, 5-2 are successively laminated to said glaze layer 2. The layer 5-1 in contact with the heat generating resistor layer 3 in the protective layers is composed only of a high toughness material and the upper protective layer 5-2 is composed of a composition where the high toughness material is mixed with at least one kind of a material selected from boron carbide, tungsten carbide, molybdenum carbide, tungsten boride, molybdenum boride, silicon nitride, tantalum nitride and aluminum nitride. By this method, the protective layers are not destructed by heat shock even when high speed printing is performed and the life of the thermal head can be extended.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an information recording medium having a high recording density and display element having high resolution by interposing a photoconductive layer between a 1st electrode layer having light transmissivity and ion conductor layer. CONSTITUTION:The photoconductive layer 3, the ion conductor layer 4 and an ion receptive layer 5, the optical density of which is changed by ion implanta tion, are successively laminated between the 1st electrode layer 2 having light transmissivity and the 2nd electrode layer 6 confronting said layer. The photoconductive layer in the region where a light beam is projected is locally made conducting when the light beam is projected from the 1st electrode layer side having light transmissivity while a voltage is held impressed between the 1st and 2nd electrodes. The voltage is, therefore, selectively impressed to the ion conductor and ion receptive layer thereon and the optical density of the ion receptive layer in said region changes. The easy high-density recording and display with high resolution are thus permitted simply by sufficiently con verging the light beam such as laser beam without forming high-density wirings.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce signal miss reading and, at the same time, to improve the fixing to a substrate by providing pads so as to separate the detecting sections from each other. SOLUTION: First pads 15 are provided on both sides of each optical fiber 5 on a first substrate 1 constituting a mounting substrate and second pads 16 are provided on both sides of each light receiving element 8 on a second substrate 7 constituting a photodiode array 6. The signals of photodiodes 8 are detected by, for example, repetitively introducing optical pulse signals to the optical fibers 5 of a packaged component. When the signals are introduced to the optical fibers 5, the occurrence of such a malfunction that randomly reflected light rays from wall surfaces 2-1, etc., which become reflecting surfaces are detected as signals although no signal exists can be prevented, because the reflected light rays are blocked by the first and second pads 15 and 16 and partition walls and hardly reach anther adjacent photodiodes 8.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a small gas sensor excellent in massproducibility with a high reproducibility, by a method wherein a substrate formed from a conductor is worked to provide a part cleared of the conductor and a groove part and a hollow and a communicating hole are formed by junction of the substrate and other substrates. CONSTITUTION:Both sides of a substrate 1-11 formed from a conductor are mirror finished and a solid electrolytic thin film 1-1 is deposited on one side thereby by sputtering. Then, the substrate 1-11 at the bottom of the thin film 1-1 is etched away and a groove for a communicating hole 1-6 is provided being connected successively to the part etched away. An external electrode 1-2 and an internal electrode 1-3 are evaporated on the upper lower surfaces of the thin film 1-1 and, at this stage, a pad 1-1- is provided to connect a lead wire to the substrate 1-11. Moreover, the internal electrode 1-3 is connected to the substrate 1-11 with an evaporation film 1-7. Subsequently, a substrate 1-4 made of inorganic material is electrostatically bonded to complete a hollow and a communication hole and leads 1-8 and 1-9 are provided to make an element.
