Abstract:
A chloroprene rubber latex for an adhesive containing a chloroprene rubber polymer which forms a copolymer with a chloroprene monomer and carboxyl-group containing vinyl monomer and which, when dissolved in chloroform to a concentration of 10% by weight, provides a solution free from organic solvent insolubles and having a solution viscosity of 100 mPa·s to 6000 mPa·s, a process for production thereof, and an adhesive composition using the same.
Abstract:
A chloroprene rubber having a shade of white only slightly tinged with pale yellow and exhibiting good tackiness is prepared by an aqueous radical emulsion polymerization of chloroprene or a mixture comprised of chloroprene and a copolymerizable monomer, wherein the polymerization is effected by using an alkali metal salt of a disproportioned rosin acid as an emulsifier, and a water-soluble polymeric substance as a dispersion stabilizer which has a sulfonic acid group and/or sulfate ester groups, which group has been introduced by an addition polymerization procedure or by a procedure of a polymeric reaction following an addition polymerization.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide chloroprene latex which maintains stability while stored, and can be used over a long period of time; and to provide an adhesive composition containing the same. SOLUTION: The chloroprene latex is characterized in that the particle diameter (median diameter) D50 (μm) of the latex is in a range represented by formula (1): 0.037×lnT(°C)≤D50(μm)≤0.2, (wherein, lnT (°C) represents natural logarithm of the polymerization temperature (°C)), and the weight ratio E(%) of an emulsifier contained in the latex is in a range represented by formula (2): -10×D50(μm)+3≤E(%)≤-15×D50(μm)+6. The adhesive composition contains the chloroprene latex. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a primer for polychloroprene rubber latex adhesive and an adhesion method using the same, which enable strong adhesion between foamed bodies to be used as materials for sports goods and wet suits or between a foamed body and a textile, while conventional polychloroprene rubber latex adhesives do not give sufficiently strong adhesion of various foamed bodies. SOLUTION: The adhesion method comprises the steps of: coating each surface of a foamed body first with a primer for adhesion containing a polyisocyanate compound and then with an adhesive containing polychloroprene latex as a main component; and successively bringing one of the coated surfaces come into contact with the other surface to be adhered. Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a latex for adhesive comprising a mixture of plural latexes containing specific copolymers having different molecular weight and excellent in ordinary-temperature and high-temperature adhesive force, softening temperature, water resistance and latex stability. CONSTITUTION:This latex for adhesive is a copolymer of a chloroprene monomer and a carboxyl group-containing vinyl monomer and is composed of a mixture of latexes of (A) a copolymer having 200000-500000 weight-average molecular weight of a part soluble in an organic solvent with (B) a copolymer having 500000-800000 weight-average molecular weight of a part soluble in an organic solvent [preferably in (90/10) to (10/90) dried weight ratio of components A/B]. Furthermore, the cloroprene-based adhesive is obtained by blending 10-60 pts.wt. of a tackiness-providing agent such as a phenolic resin with 1-5 pts.wt. of a metal oxide or a metal hydroxide.
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a solvent-type chloroprene adhesive composition satisfying both thixotropic properties and adhesion by using a specific modified chloroprene polymer and a specific thermally reactive phenol-formaldehyde resin. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 pts.wt. of a modified chloroprene polymer containing 0.01 to 5wt.% of COOH group in the molecule, (B) 10 to 200 pts.wt., preferably 20 to 150 pts.wt. of a thermally reactive phenol-formaldehyde resin containing more than 30 mole %, preferably 30 to 60 mole % of methylol group, when the total of methylol, methylene ether and methylene groups is regarded as to be 100 mole %, (C) 5 to 15 pts.wt., based on 100 pts.wt. of (B), of a basic metal oxide or hydroxide such as MgO or ZnO, when needed, further, other thixotropic agent such as basic magnesium carbonate are dispersed in an organic solvent such as toluene or ethyl acetate to give the subject composition containing 10 to 50wt.% of non-volatile components.
