Abstract:
A chloroprene rubber latex for an adhesive containing a chloroprene rubber polymer which forms a copolymer with a chloroprene monomer and carboxyl-group containing vinyl monomer and which, when dissolved in chloroform to a concentration of 10% by weight, provides a solution free from organic solvent insolubles and having a solution viscosity of 100 mPa·s to 6000 mPa·s, a process for production thereof, and an adhesive composition using the same.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition excellent in adhesive physical properties, such as normal and high temperature adhesive force, particularly, initial adhesive strength, by comprising a main agent containing chloroprene rubber latex as the main component, and a specific solidifying agent. SOLUTION: This 2-pack type composition comprises (A) a main agent consisting of (i) chloroprene rubber latex as the main component, and as necessary, (ii) a tackifying resin and/or a metallic oxide(s), and (B) a solidifying agent consisting of (iii) 1-50 pts.wt., of a water-soluble metallic salt per 100 pts.wt. of the rubber in the component A (in terms of pure rubber content) and (iv) an aqueous solution containing a cationic surfactant in the weight ratio: the component (iii)/the component (iv) of (10:1)-(1:10). As the component (i), a copolymer, obtained from chloroprene monomer and carboxyl group- containing vinyl monomer by using an emulsifier/dispersant affording latex- stability (e.g. water-soluble salt of alkyl diphenyl ether disulfonic acid), is preferably used.

PURPOSE:To produce a polymer excellent in shelf life, flexural strength and thermal aging resistance without forming a nitrosoamine compound having a remarkable mutagenicity by deflocculating a specified ratio of a specified polymer and a specified tetraalkylthiuram disulfide. CONSTITUTION:This polymer is produced by conducting an aqueous emulsion polymerization of chloroprene or a mixture of chloroprene and a monomer copolymerizable therewith, e.g. 1,3-butadiene in the presence of sulfur, adding 0.1 to 3.0wt.% one or more kind of tetraalkylthiuram disulfides having >=8C alkyl group, e.g. tetraoctylthiuram disulfide to 100wt.% the obtained polymer and deflocculating the resultant mixture.

PURPOSE: To obtain a polychloroprene latex for an adhesive excellent in latex stability and satisfying adhesion physical properties such as adhesion retainability, ordinary temperature adhesive force, high temperature adhesive force, heat resistance and water resistance, especially the ordinary temperature adhesive force, the adhesion retainability and the heat resistance. CONSTITUTION: This polychloroprene latex is produced by emulsion-polymerizing monomers comprising (A) 100 pts.wt. of chloroprene, (B) 1-100 pts.wt. of 2,3- dichlorobutadiene, and if necessary, further (C) a carboxyl group-containing vinylic monomer. When the polymer in the latex is dissolved in chloroform in a concentration of 5%, the solution does not contain insolubles. The emulsion polymerization is performed in the presence of 0.5-10 pts.wt. of an emulsifying and dispersing agent and 0.01-3.0 pts.wt. of a mol.wt.-controlling agent at 0-80 deg.C in a conversion of 60-100%.

PURPOSE:To obtain a latex for adhesive comprising a mixture of plural latexes containing specific copolymers having different molecular weight and excellent in ordinary-temperature and high-temperature adhesive force, softening temperature, water resistance and latex stability. CONSTITUTION:This latex for adhesive is a copolymer of a chloroprene monomer and a carboxyl group-containing vinyl monomer and is composed of a mixture of latexes of (A) a copolymer having 200000-500000 weight-average molecular weight of a part soluble in an organic solvent with (B) a copolymer having 500000-800000 weight-average molecular weight of a part soluble in an organic solvent [preferably in (90/10) to (10/90) dried weight ratio of components A/B]. Furthermore, the cloroprene-based adhesive is obtained by blending 10-60 pts.wt. of a tackiness-providing agent such as a phenolic resin with 1-5 pts.wt. of a metal oxide or a metal hydroxide.
