Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:The titled complex composed of cacium chloride and at least one amide selected from the group consisting of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, N,N-dimethylacetamide and 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone. EXAMPLE:Calcium chloride-N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone complex. USE:Aid for dissolving aromatic polyamides: when an aromatic polyamide is prepared by the polycondensation between an aromatic diamine and an aromatic dicarboxylic chloride in a polar organic solvent, the complex is added to assure the smooth progress of the reaction. PREPARATION:Calcium chloride and an amide such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone are mixed with heat under anhydrous conditions to effect the reaction between them, thus producing the calcium chloride-amide complex.
