    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a deodorant containing no caffeine, having excellent deodorizing efficiency and safe from an aspect of health by combining a selective extraction and removal method of caffeine due to a fluid in a supercritical state with an extraction method of an effective component as a deodorant by a solvent. CONSTITUTION:In the presence of water, tea leaves are brought into contact with a solution mixture of a fluid brought to a supercritical state from a gaseous state and at least one kind of an alcoholic org. solvent selected from 1-4C lower aliphatic monohydric alcohols in a supercritical state to selectively extract and remove caffeine from tea leaves. The obtained extraction residue is extracted with a solvent and the raw material residue is removed from the extracted solution by filtering while the filtrate is conc. or conc. to dryness to obtain a raw deodorizing liquid or powder. The deodorant thus prepared contains 5-20wt.% of tannin as a principal deodorizing effective component and the deodorizing rate thereof is 80% or more and the caffeine content thereof is 1wt.% or less.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To raise removal ratio of caffeine without extracting useful substances from a plant material by extracting and removing caffeine from the plant material with a solution prepared by adding a specific organic solvent to a fluid made into a supercritical state from a gas. CONSTITUTION:The bottom of an extractor 1 is charged with water, a plant material is packed into the upper part of the container, a gas such as carbon dioxide is introduced from a storage tank 10 to a heat exchanger 4, liquefied and fed to the bottom of the extractor 1 by a circulating pump 5. An organic solvent of 1-4C lower aliphatic saturated monohydric alcohol base is sent from a storage tank 11 to a delivery piping of the circulating pump 5 by a supply pump 6 and blended with the carbon dioxide. The pressure of the circulating solution in a supercritical state, containing water provided with caffeine is reduced by a pressure-control valve 8 set in a conduit from a separator 2 to a heat exchanger 9, a first component is gasified and separated into gas and liquid by the separator 2. A second component containing caffeine is introduced to a separating system 3 to separate caffeine.
