    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a copolymer of a high molecular weight by polymerizing propylene in the presence of a specified catalyst system, adding an alkylaluminoxane to the reaction system, and polymerizing propylene with another alpha-olefin. CONSTITUTION:Propylene and at most 10wt.% alpha-olefin are polymerized in an inert hydrocarbon in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a solid containing titanium trichloride and an alkylaluminum compound of the formula: AlR3-nXn (wherein R is 1-8 C alkyl; X is halogen; and n is 0-3). An alkylaluminoxane is added to the reaction system without deactivating the catalyst system, and propylene and another alpha-olefin are copolymerized to obtain a propylene block copolymer having a weight-average molecular weight of 400000 or above when measured on the xylene-solubles at 20 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a stereoregular alpha-olefinic polymer having a practical molecular weight and a wide molecular weight distribution by using a highly active catalyst composed of specific two kinds of solid components, an organoaluminum compound and an electron donor. CONSTITUTION:An alpha-olefin is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst composed of (A) a solid catalyst component consisting essentially of Mg, Ti, a halogen and an electron donor, (B) a solid catalyst component prepared by carrying out the contact treatment of a solid consisting essentially of the Mg, halogen and electron donor with an organometallic compound of formula I or II [Cp is (substituted) cyclopentadienyl; M is group IVa, Va or VIa transition metal; M is Ti or Zr; R is H or methyl; R is methyl or Cl; R , R and R are 1-20C alkyl or aryl; X is halogen; m and n are 1-3; and (m+n) is , (R is 2-8C alkyl) and (C) an electron donor.

CONSTITUTION:The copolymer comprising a polypropylene component being insoluble in p-xylene at room temperature and having a melt flow index of 30 or above, an Mw/Mn ratio of 8 or greater, a melting point of 165 deg.C or above, a crystallization temperature of 117 deg.C or above and a crystalline melting heat of 107mJ/mg or above and a propylene/alpha-olefin copolymer component being soluble in p-xylene at room temperature and having an intrinsic viscosity of 5 or above and having a melt flow index of 10 or above is provided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain in high activity a high-molecular weight rubbery propylene block copolymer with high rigidity, excellent in impact strength by two-step polymerization between propylene and another alpha-olefin using each specific catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, in the presence of a catalyst composed of (A) a solid catalytic component essentially comprising Mg, Ti, halogen and electron donor, (B) an organoaluminum compound (pref. trialkylaluminum) and (C) a silicate compound (pref. cyclohexylmethyldimethoxysilane), propylene (and a small amount of another alpha-olefin) is polymerized. Second, in the 2nd step, (D) a piperidine compound (pref. 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine) is added to the above reaction system without deactivating the above catalyst to conduct a polymerization between the propylene and the rest of the other alpha-olefin. The component A is pref. prepared by reaction of AlCl3 with e.g. tetraethoxysilane, a Grignard compound, o-phthalic diester and e.g. TiCl4, successively.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To stably obtain the title copolymer which has a given mol.wt., contains no gel, and has a rubbery copolymer segment having a high mol.wt. by conducting polymerization under specific conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprising a Ti-containing solid catalyst component and an organic Al compound. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst comprising a Ti-containing solid catalyst component (a) (e.g. SB-12 manufactured by Tosoh Akzo Corp.) and an organic Al compound (b) (e.g. diethylaluminum chloride) is used to obtain the title copolymer whose part soluble in xylene at 20 deg.C has a weight-average mol.wt. of 400,000 or higher. This process comprises the first step in which propylene or a mixture thereof with a small amount of other alpha-olefin (e.g. ethylene) is bulk-polymerized, followed by the second step in which propylene or a mixture thereof with other alpha-olefin is slurry-polymerized.
