Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject compound useful as a polymerization catalyst component, etc., in high yield by reacting magnesium with a halogenated hydrocarbon and a secondary amine, producing a magnesium amide compound and then reacting the resultant magnesium amide compound with an alkoxysilane. SOLUTION: Magnesium is reacted with a halogenated hydrocarbon (e.g. n-butyl chloride) and a secondary amine (e.g. perhydroisoquinoline) in a solvent such as tetrahydrofuran to produce a magnesium amide compound in the first step. The resultant magnesium amide compound is then reacted with an alkoxysilane (e.g. tetramethoxysilane) under heating in the second step to thereby afford the objective aminoalkoxysilane compound, especially a di(polycyclic amino)dialkoxysilane [e.g. di(perhydroisoquinolyl)dimethoxysilane] in high yield according to a simple process. The resultant compound as a polymerization catalyst component is capable of producing a polymer having high stereoregularity in polymerization of an α-olefin.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a di(polynuclear amino) dialkoxysilane having two polynuclear perhydroamino groups, the hydrocarbon amino group of which is sterically very bulkyl, e.g. di(polynuclear perhydroamino)di(hydrocarbon oxy)silane. SOLUTION: This method for producing a di(polynuclear amino)dialkoxysilane uses tetrachlorosilane, a polynuclear secondary amine and alcohol as the reactants in the presence of a hydrogen chloride scavenger. The particularly preferable hydrogen chloride scavengers include trimethylamine, triethylamine, tripropylamine, tributylamine, trihexylamine and dimethylphenylamine. The polynuclear secondary amines useful for the present invention include perhydroindole, perhydroisoindole, perhydroquinoline, perhydroisoquinoline and perhydrocarbazole.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vanadium metallocene compound useful as a catalyst for the polymerization of conjugated dienes by treating a reaction product obtained by reacting VCl4 or VCl3 with a specified organometallic compound with thionyl chloride. SOLUTION: VCl4 or VCl3 is reacted with an organometallic compound such as represented by the formula: RLi, RNa or RMgCl [wherein R is 1,3- dimethylcyclopentadienyl, t-butylcyclopentadienyl, trimethylsilylcyclopentadinyl, bis(trimethylsilyl)pentadienyl, benzylcyclopentadinyl, ethylcyclopentadienyl or m-butylcyclpentadienyl]. The obtained product represented by the formula: VR2 Cl2 or VR2 Cl is treated with thionyl chloride to obtain a vanadium metallocene compound of the formula: VRCl3 (V is vanadium). Next, this compound is treated with oxygen to obtain a vanadium metallocene compound of the formula: V(O)RCl2 .

SOLUTION: This catalyst comprises a group-IV transition metal compd. represented by the formula (wherein M is a group-IV transition metal, i.e., Ti, Zr, or Hf; X is H, a halogen, or a 1-12C hydrocarbon group; Y and Z are each H, a 1-20C hydrocarbon group, or a silyl group contg. a 1-20C hydrocarbon group; and (n) is 2 or 3), an org. compd. of a metal of group I-III, an aluminoxane, and an ionic compd. cocatalyst reactive with the transition metal compd. to form a cationic transition metal compd. In the formula, X is pref. Cl, Br, or methyl; and Y and Z are each pref. methyl, ethyl, or trimethylsilyl. An esp. pref. cocatalyst is an organoaluminum compd. This catalyst has a good copolymerizability with an α-olefin.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new organosilicon compound which is a specific diaminoalkoxysilane, useful as a highly active polymerization catalyst component capable of producing a highly stereoregular homopolymer of an α-olefin or a copolymer thereof and other monomers. SOLUTION: This new diaminoalkoxysilane is represented by formula I (R to R are each a 1-8C hydrocarbon), formula II (R is a cyclic amino group) or formula III and useful as a highly active polymerization catalyst component, etc., capable of producing a highly stereoregular homopolymer of an α-olefin or a copolymer thereof with other α-olefins. The new organosilicon compound is obtained by placing stirrer beads in a flask, equipped with a dropping funnel and having a glass filter, replacing the interior of the flask with nitrogen, then placing dimethylamine and n-heptane therein, dropping a solution of butyl-lithium in hexane from the dropping funnel thereinto, subsequently dropping tetramethoxysilane into the mixture, carrying out the reaction, filtering the reactional mixture through the glass filter, distilling away the n-heptane in the filtrate under a reduced pressure, distilling and purifying the resultant product.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst, having a high polymerization activity and providing the resultant polymer with a narrow molecular weight distribution, excellent in copolymerizability of ethylene with an α-olefin and capable of providing a copolymer having a narrow compositional distribution thereof. CONSTITUTION: This catalyst for polymerizing an olefin comprises (A) a transition metallic compound represented by the formula RB(pz)3 MX3 (M denotes a group IV or V transition metal of the periodic table; R denotes hydrogen or a hydrocarbon group; X denotes hydrogen, a hydrocarbon group, a hologen, amino group or an oxyhydrocarbon group; pz denotes pyrazoyl group) and (B) a compound selected from the group consisting of organoaluminumoxy compounds, Lewis acidic compounds and ionic compounds. Thereby, both the resultant polymer and copolymer have a low content of tacky oligomers and are excellent in mechanical properties.
