Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder coating composition, curable by radiation upon melting, which provides a coating film upon curing, exhibiting an excellent solvent resistance even if saturated with solvents.SOLUTION: The radiation-curable powder composition includes (a) 10-90 wt.% of at least one (meth)acryloyl group-containing amorphous polyester, (b) 10-60 wt.% of at least one (meth)acryloyl group-containing polyphenoxy resin, and (c) 0-30 wt.% of an ethylenic unsaturated oligomer and/or at least one (meth)acryloyl group-containing semi-crystalline polyester, each based on the total weight of the components (a), (b) and (c).

Abstract: The invention relates to powder compositions hardenable by radiation usable for preparing paints and varnishes. These powder compositions contain an ethylenically unsaturated resin, a phosphorous containing compound and, eventually, a monomer or oligomer. The powder compositions of the invention are especially suited for coating over metal and combine upon melting at low temperatures and curing by radiation a series of properties such as good flow and film flexibility along with an outstanding adhesion to the substrate.
