Abstract: A cementitious slurry mixing and dispensing system includes a slurry mixer (102) that agitates and forms aqueous cementitious slurry, a discharge conduit (106) in communication with the mixer (102) and forming an interior surface defining a slurry flow path to convey the slurry therethrough to an outlet (108), a distribution mat (110) disposed proximally to the outlet (108), a vibrating plate (130) supporting the distribution mat (110), an overhead bracing system (140) from which the vibrating plate (130) is suspended, and a plurality of support members (150) coupled between the overhead bracing system (140) and the vibrating plate (130). The vibrating plate is adapted to impart vibrational forces on the distribution mat to promote movement of the aqueous slurry. Each support member (150) includes a rod (152), a hollow coupling member (156), and at least one resilient bushing assembly (170) adapted to dampen the vibrational forces exerted by the vibrating plate (130), thereby isolating the rod (152) and the overhead bracing system (140) from the vibrational forces.

Abstract: Disclosed is a composite gypsum board comprising a board core and a concentrated layer of substantial thickness (e.g., at least about 0.02 inches). The concentrated layer includes a higher weight percentage of an enhancing additive than the board core. The board core has a thickness greater than the thickness of the concentrated layer and forms the bulk of the board volume. The concentrated layer has a higher density (e.g., at least about 1.1 times greater) than the density of the board core. Also disclosed is a method of preparing a composite gypsum board.

Abstract: A method of continuously forming a multilayer panel includes making a gypsum slurry, then dividing the gypsum slurry into at least a primary gypsum slurry and a secondary gypsum slurry. An additive slurry having water and an intumescent material is created, then added to the secondary gypsum slurry to make an expandable layer slurry that is spread over at least a portion of a facing material. The primary gypsum slurry is distributed over the secondary gypsum slurry over the facing material and the expanding layer slurry to form a core. Optionally, another layer, an edge coating, is applied to the expanding layer for additional fire protection. The edge coating includes a second intumescent material. During a fire, the expanding layer expands to increase the thickness of the fire exposed gypsum panel and the edge coating expands to seal the gap between adjoining gypsum panels.
