Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strut rod which achieves a structural guide vane capable of withstanding normal load conditions and sudden load conditions on an engine while minimizing noise.SOLUTION: A fan exit case includes structural guide vanes 28 and strut rods 30. The vane 28 is connected to a center body 34 in an inner circumferential end part 36, and connected to an outer circumferential side case 32 in an outer circumferential end part 38. Moreover, the rod 30 is connected to the center body 34 in an inner circumferential side end part 40, and is connected to the outer circumferential side case 32 in an outer circumferential side end part 42. The vane 28 recedes so that connection of the vane 28 to the center body 34 in the inner circumferential side end 36 is made at a location closer to a fan 12 than connection of the vane 28 to the outer circumferential side case 32 in the outer circumferential side part 36. The rod 30 is connected with an A-type frame configuration so that the outer circumferential side end part 42 of the two rods 30 are connected to the outer circumferential side case 32 at the section closer to each other.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the prevention of damage by foreign matter such as ice without installing complicated valve means. SOLUTION: An outlet/inlet module is disclosed which has both an inlet 58 and an outlet 62 for a heat exchanger system. The heat exchanger system 54 is placed in a cavity portion within a nacelle core chamber and communicates to a fan bypass duct through an inlet duct 76 which slopes down suddenly in a radially inward direction, and an exhaust duct 86. Weight ratio and aerodynamic performance of the system have been improved. A module is comprised of an integrated cast with a lobe shaped mixer 94 at the outlet thereof.
Abstract:
An inlet and outlet module (108) having both an inlet (58) and an outlet (62) for a heat exchanger system (52) is disclosed. Various construction details which improve the stiffness to weight ratio and the aerodynamic smoothness are developed. In one embodiment, the module (108) is formed of a one piece casting having a lobed mixer (94) at the outlet.

Abstract:
A static guide vane for use in a fan section of a gas turbine engine includes an outer platform and an inner platform. The inner and outer platforms are connected by an airfoil. The airfoil have channels extending into a main body of the airfoil to reduce the weight of the vane. A cover closes off the channels with the cover providing a portion of the airfoil.
Abstract:
A grounding sleeve for grounding an electrically insulated element disposed between two metal components includes an annular body extending between a first end and a second end. At least one window is formed in the annular body between the first end and the second end.
