Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the damage of a gear box housing and an auxiliary machine in a rotor unbalance state like the fan blade loss state. SOLUTION: A mounting part 60 to mount an auxiliary machine 50 on a gear box comprises a mounting plate 62 connected to the auxiliary machine 50; links 64 and 66 to connect a first end part to the mounting plate 62 through a grommet 74 having elasticity, and a bush; brackets 68 and 70 to interconnect the links 64 and 66 and an engine case. In a normal engine working state, the auxiliary machine 50 is insulated in vibration from the engine case. In a high rotor unbalance state like during a loss of a fan blade, the grommet 74 being an elastic member is squeezed, the auxiliary machine 50 is coupled to an engine case, a load on a connection part between the gear box and the auxiliary machine is minimized, and damage due to a rotor unbalance load is minimized.

Abstract: A mount (9) for a gearbox accessory (50) for a gas turbine engine substantially isolates the accessory (50) from direct mechanical loading from the engine case (22) during normal engine operating conditions and couples the accessory (50) to the engine case (22) during high rotor imbalance conditions to minimize interface loads between the gearbox (40) and the accessory (50). By coupling the gearbox (40) to the accessory (50), the two are displaced substantially in unison, thereby minimizing interface stresses therebetween. Various construction details of the mount for the gearbox accessories (50) are disclosed.

Abstract: A gearbox mounting arrangement for a gas turbine engine includes a controlled spring rate mount that has an appropriate stiffness level to minimize the transmission of loads from the engine case to the gearbox. The controlled spring rate mount 60 is generally T-shaped and includes a cross-member 62 that attaches at the ends thereof to spaced locations on the engine case and a substantially perpendicular leg 64 fixed to the cross-member and having a free end 68 that attaches to the gearbox. The cross-member 62 bends to accommodate the application of vertical loads from the engine case to the gearbox instead of transmitting the loads to the gearbox which would deform the gearbox housing during a high rotor imbalance event.
