Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain a gear box from being adversely affected to the minimum even when a rotor is turned out to be in a very unstable condition. SOLUTION: This mounting part 60 includes a cross member 62 both the ends of which are mounted on an engine case, a free end 68 fixed to the cross member 62, and simultaneously mounted on a gear box 40, and alsoincludes a leg part 64 actually extended in the vertical direction in such a way as to be formed into a rough T-shape. The appropriate adjustment of a spring constant for the mounting part in this configuration thereby allows load to be transmitted to the gear box 40 from the engine case to be restrained to the minimum.

Abstract: A gearbox mounting arrangement for a gas turbine engine includes a controlled spring rate mount that has an appropriate stiffness level to minimize the transmission of loads from the engine case to the gearbox. The controlled spring rate mount 60 is generally T-shaped and includes a cross-member 62 that attaches at the ends thereof to spaced locations on the engine case and a substantially perpendicular leg 64 fixed to the cross-member and having a free end 68 that attaches to the gearbox. The cross-member 62 bends to accommodate the application of vertical loads from the engine case to the gearbox instead of transmitting the loads to the gearbox which would deform the gearbox housing during a high rotor imbalance event.
