SUITABLE ANODIC INHIBITOR SPECIES INCLUDE TUNGSTATES, PERMANGANATES, VANADATES, MOLYBDATES, AND MIXTURES THEREOF. SUITABLE CATHODIC CORROSION INHIBITORS INCLUDES COBALT, CERIUM, OTHER LANTHANIDE ELEMENTS, AND MIXTURES THEREOF. IN ONE EMBODIMENT, THE CONVERSION COATING IS FORMED USING A CERIUM CONTAINING SOLUTION AND A TUNGSTATE CONTAINING SOLUTION.

Abstract: La presente invencion se refiere a un revestimiento compuesto de conversion sin cromo para una parte formada a partir de una aleacion de aluminio. Abstract: The present invention relates to a compound, non-chromium conversion coating for a part formed from an aluminum alloy. The coating is formed by providing a first solution containing an anodic inhibitor species, providing a second solution containing a cathodic corrosion inhibitor species, and immersing the part to be coated in a first one of the first and second solutions and thereafter in a second one of the first and second solutions. Suitable anodic inhibitor species include tungstates, permanganates, vanadates, molybdates, and mixtures thereof. Suitable cathodic corrosion inhibitors include cobalt, cerium, other lanthanide elements, and mixtures thereof. In one embodiment, the conversion coating is formed using a cerium containing solution and a tungstate containing solution.

Abstract: A feedback controlled stripping system comprises a stripping tank 12 containing an electrolyte bath stripping solution for removing a coating from at least one workpiece immersed in the stripping solution while a controlled absolute electrical potential is maintained on the at least one workpiece with respect to a reference electrode also immersed in the stripping solution, a rinse tank 14 for rinsing the workpiece(s) after removal of the workpiece(s) from the stripping tank, and a distillation unit 16 for receiving electrolyte containing dissolved metals from the stripping tank, for purifying the electrolyte received from the stripping tank, and for returning the purified electrolyte to the stripping tank. In a preferred embodiment, the stripping tank 12, the rinse tank 14, and the distillation unit are mounted to a skid 18. The system further includes a control module.
