Abstract: During a material removal method, a component (10) is received that includes a component body (12) and a coating (14) on the component body (12). The component body (12) includes metallic first material. The coating (14) includes second material that is different from the first material. A solution (16) is received that includes nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide. At least a portion of the coating (14) is subjected to the solution (16) in order to remove at least some of the second material from the component (10).
