Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air seal for a gas turbine engine which improves a durability especially at high temperatures. SOLUTION: An air seal (7) includes a seal substrate and an abradable seal layer on the seal substrate. The abradable seal layer is formed by a high density polyimid foaming material, or preferably a thermomechanically high density foaming material.
