Abstract:
A composition comprising an aromatic co-polyester and poly(ethylene oxybenzoate), in which A. THE AROMATIC CO-POLYESTER IS A RESINOUS PRODUCT REPRESENTED BY THE FORMULA: WHEREIN X is -O-, -S-, -SO-, -SO2-, an alkylene group or an alkylidene group; R1, R2, R3, R4, R''1, R''2, R''3 and R''4, which may be the same or different, each is a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and n is a positive integer which provides a resinous product; B. THE POLY(ETHYLENE OXYBENZOATE) IS PRESENT IN AN AMOUNT OF FROM 0.1 TO 50 WEIGHT % BASED ON THE SUM OF THE WEIGHT OF THE AROMATIC CO-POLYESTER AND THE POLY(ETHYLENE OXYBENZOATE); AND C. THE
MOIETY IN THE ABOVE FORMULA IS A TEREPHTHALIC ACID UNIT OR AN ISOPHTHALIC ACID UNIT, AND IS PRESENT IN THE AROMATIC COPOLYESTER AT A MOLAR RATIO OF 9:1 TO 1:9, RESPECTIVELY, USEFUL AS A COMPOSITION FOR PRODUCING MOLDED ARTICLES HAVING IMPROVED HYDROLYSIS, CRACKING AND CRAZING RESISTANCE.
Abstract:
A resin composition consisting essentially of (A) an aromatic copolyester derived from (1) a mixture of terephthalic acid and isophthalic acid and/or the functional derivatives thereof and (2) a bisphenol and/or the functional derivatives thereof; (B) a polyamide; and (C) a compound of a metal of Groups IVB, VB, VIB, VIIB, VIII, IB, IIB, IIIA, IVA or VA of the Periodic Table. An article molded from the resin composition exhibits high heat resistance, mechanical properties and moldability. It is particularly resistant to cracking upon impact, and is also resistant to breaking at a thin walled portion.
Abstract:
An aromatic copolyester composition comprising (A) an aromatic copolyester derived from terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid and a bisphenol and (B) a phosphite compound, or an aromatic copolyester composition comprising components (A) and (B) plus (C) a metal salt of an organic carboxylic acid. Molded articles prepared from such aromatic copolyester compositions have superior mechanical properties and fire retardancy and reduced coloration and crazing.
Abstract:
A resin composition comprising (A) an aromatic copolyester comprising the reaction product in about equimolar amounts of (1) terephthalic acid and/or the functional derivatives thereof, isophthalic acid and/or the functional derivatives thereof and (2) a bisphenol and/or the functional derivatives thereof, (B) a polyamide, and (C) a polyalkylene phenylene ester or a polyalkylene phenylene ester ether, and a process for preparing the same. The resin composition has excellent moldability and the molded articles made therefrom have superior chemical resistance, thermal stability and mechanical properties.

1523226 Compositions comprising aromatic copolyester polyamide and polyester or polyetherester UNITIKA Ltd 13 Oct 1976 [15 Oct 1975 12 April 1976] 42487/76 Heading C3R A composition comprises by wt. 1-98À9% (A) an aromatic copolyester, 1-98À9% (B) a polyamide, and 0À1-98% (C) a polyester or poly(etherester). Copolyester (A) is the reaction product of terephthalic and isophthalic acids, or derivatives, in mole ratio from 9 : 1 to 1 : 9, and bisphenol (I) where X is O, S, SO2, SO, CO, or C1-4 alkylene or alkylidene, and the R radicals are H, Cl, Br, or C1-4 alkyl, or a derivative of (I). Polyamide (B) is -(-OC-R5-NH-)-30-500 or -(-OCR6CO-HNR7NH-)-30-500, when R5, R6 and R7 are C4-11 alkylene. Polyester or poly(etherester) (C) is where R8-R11 are H, Cl, Br or C1-4 alkyl, m is 1-10, n is 30-500, and Y is -O-CO- or -O-. The composition may be prepared by meltblending (A) with at least a portion of (B) and/or (C), to yield a composition containing more (A) than finally required, and then adding the remainder of (B) and/or (C) and further melt-blending. Also present may be synthetic rubbers, and conventional additives. Uses.-Filaments, films, mouldings, coatings.
