Abstract: Avoiding corrosion by HCl of overhead condensing equipment from a crude column by injecting an amine containing at least 7 carbon atoms into the reflux being returned to the upper portion of the crude column. An amine hydrochloride is formed which is nonvolatile and hydrocarbon soluble. Accordingly, it will be withdrawn from a lower section of the column and will not pass overhead into the communicating condensing equipment.
