Abstract: There is described herein a method for improving or preserving hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) self-renewal during ex-vivo expansion of a population of cells comprising HSCs in an expansion medium, the method comprising culturing the population of cells in the presence of N-(4hydroxyphenyl)retinarnide (4HPR).
